Wingman Metrics
The Chastain hands you a wine list of 24 bottles and your first instinct is to wonder if that's enough — then you actually read it and realize every single slot is doing real work. This isn't a sprawling hotel list padded with Kendall-Jackson and Yellow Tail; it's a tightly edited program that clearly had an adult in the room when it was built. The price range stretches from a sensible $14/glass all the way to $90/glass for Krug, which tells you this place is trying to serve multiple types of drinkers at the same table.
The list punches well above its size class. On the white side you've got Heidi Schrock's 'More is More' Riesling from Burgenland, Pax Mahle's Chenin Blanc from Sonoma, and a Domaine LeSimple Sancerre sitting alongside a proper Bourgogne Blanc from Sylvaine & Alain Normand — that's four different countries and four different registers of white wine. Reds follow the same logic: Christophe Lapierre's Gamay and a Christophe Patrice Irancy anchor the Burgundy-adjacent corner, while R. Lopez Heredia Viña Cubillo 2017 — a wine that needs about 20 more years to fully unwind and is already brilliant — shows up alongside a Damilano Barolo and an AltoMoncayo Garnacha that has more muscle than most people expect from that appellation. The one real gap is depth by region: you get one of everything, which means if you want to explore a single area you're going to run out of road fast. But as a curated greatest-hits collection for a New American restaurant in Atlanta, this is genuinely impressive.
The entire bottle list pours by the glass, which is either a flex or a logistical nightmare depending on how busy service is — and it means the by-the-glass program is actually the whole list. Twenty-four options ranging from the Bruno Zanasi Lambrusco at $18/glass to Krug Grande Cuvée Ed. 172 at $90/glass gives a diner real choices at every price point. The rotation appears static rather than seasonal, but when the baseline selection includes Irancy, Tawny ports from Kopke and Niepoort, and a legitimate Riesling, a set list is forgivable.
The Bottom Line
The Chastain runs a small, sharp wine list that most people in Atlanta haven't given enough credit to — it earns a Wild Card badge because finding Lopez Heredia and Pax Mahle Chenin Blanc on the same menu as Damilano Barolo at a New American spot in Buckhead is genuinely unexpected. If you're eating here, skip the obvious bottle and let the list surprise you.

Confab's all-by-the-glass format is genuinely smart and removes the usual friction of wine list navigation. The pricing is fair across the board and the white and sparkling selections show real range — just don't come in expecting a serious red wine moment. If you're here for a couple of glasses with dinner, you'll leave happy.

Dresden · Atlanta · Gastropub/Tavern
Dresden Tavern isn't trying to be a wine destination, and that's fine — it's a neighborhood tavern doing neighborhood tavern things. The list is familiar, prices are fair for the format, and having the entire program available by the glass is genuinely useful. If you're here for a burger and a glass of something decent, the Domaine Bousquet Malbec or White Haven Sauv Blanc will take care of you without drama.

Piedmont Park · Atlanta · Gastropub/Tavern
The Nook is a perfectly decent place to have a beer or a Ketel One sangria while watching the park — and honestly, that might be the move. The wine list is a collection of familiar labels marked up well past their worth, with no evidence of rotation, staff expertise, or curatorial effort. If wine is your priority tonight, keep walking.

Alici is doing something genuinely interesting with 25 bottles — leaning into high-acid, food-driven picks that make the seafood menu sing. We don't have price data to fully validate the value story, but the intentionality of this list is hard to ignore. If you're going for oysters, this wine program was built with you in mind.

Bangkok Station's wine list does the bare minimum — it has wine, it's mostly available by the glass, and nothing is undrinkable. But with markups that sting on recognizable bottles and zero creativity in selection for a cuisine that rewards adventurous pours, it's hard to get excited. Order the Rosé, enjoy the food, and don't overthink it.

Mali's wine list does what it sets out to do: keep everyone at the table from complaining. It's familiar, approachable, and almost entirely devoid of surprise. If you're here for the food — which you probably should be — grab the Willamette Valley Pinot, stay out of the Cab deep end, and focus on what's coming out of the kitchen.

Suite 200 Grille is doing more with 24 labels than most restaurants do with twice that. Fair glass prices, a Barolo on the menu, and an Italian selection that earns its keep — this is the kind of neighborhood spot you should actually bring wine-curious friends to. It won't blow your mind, but it won't embarrass you either.

Appalachian Grill's wine list won't win any awards, but it's a thoughtful little collection for a town where the alternative is usually whatever's in the gas station cooler. If you're in Cartersville and want a solid glass of wine with your dinner, this list won't let you down — just don't arrive expecting a deep cellar.

Eighteen70's wine list is a placeholder, not a program. It checks the box — there's wine, it's recognizable, nobody will send it back — but it shows zero ambition and almost certainly charges steep markups on bottles you've seen a hundred times. Stick to cocktails or beer unless someone at the table just needs a glass of something familiar.
