The wine list at SOHO Steak & Seafood is exactly what you'd expect from a Myrtle Beach steakhouse — approachable, familiar, and built for the vacationing majority. At $6 to $25 a glass and bottles topping out at $125, nobody's getting sticker shock here. It's not trying to be a destination wine program, and that self-awareness actually works in its favor.
Eighty labels across the full list sounds respectable until you start cataloging the producers: Sycamore Lane, Pacific Bay, Gnarly Head — these are grocery-aisle standbys, not cellar darlings. The bottle list leans heavily on Washington State (Columbia Crest, Chateau St. Michelle) and California value-tier wines, with a Côtes du Rhône Rosé and a Louis Latour Pinot Noir as the lone nods toward Europe. There's a Bubbles section, which is a good sign for a seafood-forward menu, though the depth there is unknown. The gaps are predictable: no real Old World reds, no grower Champagne, no orange wine, nothing that would make a serious wine drinker linger over the list.
Twenty-eight by-the-glass options is genuinely generous — that's a real commitment to the glass program, even if the selections skew safe. Columbia Crest Grand Estate is a workhorse Cab that consistently punches above its retail price — getting it at $7 a glass at a steakhouse is a genuine deal. It's not glamorous, but it's the right wine for a ribeye at a price that won't make you wince.
Frisk Prickly Riesling
Most people at a beach steakhouse are reaching for Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio. The Frisk Prickly Riesling — a lightly fizzy, off-dry Australian Riesling — is the kind of left-field pick that actually holds up against seafood. At $8 a glass, it's one of the more interesting pours on the list and almost nobody's ordering it.
Pacific Bay White Zinfandel
At $6 a glass, it's cheap — but it's still White Zinfandel from Pacific Bay, a bulk-production label. There's nothing here worth your dinner. Order anything else.
Côtes du Rhône Rosé + Seafood entrée
The Côtes du Rhône Rosé is the one wine on the list with enough structure and freshness to actually complement seafood without getting overwhelmed. Southern Rhône Rosé is built for exactly this kind of coastal, simply-prepared fish and shellfish — and at $10 a glass it's the smartest move you can make on this list.
