Fourteen bottles on a list at a Myrtle Beach wine bar sounds like a setup for disappointment — and then you see Ugolforte Brunello and Grattamacco Bolgheri sitting next to Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis Premier Cru and you do a double take. This is not the list a beach town usually produces. Someone here has opinions and is not afraid to use them.
The list reads like a curated flight rather than a full catalog, which is a feature, not a bug. France anchors the whites — the Dezat Menetou-Salon is a sharp Loire pick, the Brocard Chablis 1er Cru is a credible splurge, and the Wolfberger Pinot Blanc is a smart crowd-pleaser from Alsace. The reds split between Burgundy-leaning lighter fare (Mommessin Beaujolais Villages, Charles Père et Fille Hautes Côtes de Beaune) and a Napa Cab trio that covers a $75 price spread. The Italy section is where this list earns its stripes — Grattamacco Bolgheri and Ugolforte Brunello di Montalcino at a beach wine bar is genuinely unexpected. The one notable gap: no rosé and no skin-contact option for those looking to go sideways.

Stephanie & Arnaud Dezat Menetou-Salon — $65
The Dezat family makes some of the most honest Sauvignon Blanc in the Loire, and Menetou-Salon consistently punches above its weight versus Sancerre. At $65, you're getting a benchmark Loire white for the price of a mediocre California Chardonnay elsewhere.
Grattamacco Bolgheri
Grattamacco is one of Bolgheri's founding estates — this is Sassicaia country, and $85 for a Grattamacco bottle is a legitimate deal. Most tables will gravitate toward the Napa Cabs; that's their loss and your gain.
Vice Five Peaks Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
At $159, this is the list's top-end play and the one spot where the markup starts to feel like a tourist tax. The Matthew Wallace Napa Cab at $84 is sitting right there on the same list — unless you have a specific reason to go big, the jump in price doesn't justify the jump in prestige.
Ugolforte Brunello di Montalcino + Dry-aged steak
Brunello needs something with real weight and char to meet it in the middle. Sangiovese's high acidity and firm tannins are built for red meat — the fat cuts the tannin, the tannin cuts the fat. Classic matchup executed at a legitimately high level for $125 a bottle.
The Bottom Line
Notte del Vino is the wine bar Myrtle Beach didn't know it needed — a short, deliberate list with real European bones and fair prices that suggest someone is paying actual attention. Send a friend here, and tell them to start with the Dezat.
