Walking into a boutique hotel restaurant at a ski base area, you brace for the usual tourist-trap wine list — heavy on Kendall-Jackson, light on effort. Maggie's surprises. The list is compact but the picks are deliberate, leaning into California and Oregon with a few French anchors that signal someone actually thought this through.
The 40-70 bottle list covers California, Oregon, and France without overextending — a smart move for a room that's half powder-day celebrants and half couples on a mountain getaway. Russian River Valley Chardonnay, Oregon Pinot Noir, and Provence Rosé are all present and accounted for, which covers the obvious bases without being lazy about it. There are gaps — no real deep dives into Burgundy or anything that would excite a serious collector — but that's not who this list is for. It's built for the table that wants something good without needing a lecture.
Ten to sixteen options by the glass is a solid showing for a hotel restaurant at altitude. The range spans bubbles (Piper-Heidsieck), white, rosé, and red, which means you can build a full dinner around pours without committing to a bottle. Rotation appears limited — this feels like a set list rather than something that gets refreshed seasonally.
Chateau Miraval Rosé Côtes de Provence — $20
A 40% markup on a wine that retails around $28 is legitimately fair for a hotel restaurant. Brad and Angelina's Provence rosé at a price that doesn't make you wince? Take it.
Mer Soleil Reserve Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands
Most people at this table are going to grab the Russian River Chardonnay on name recognition alone. Skip it and order the Mer Soleil — Santa Lucia Highlands runs cooler, which means more tension and less butter bomb. At $17 a glass with a 62% markup, it's the smarter pour.
Piper-Heidsieck Brut Champagne
At $18 a glass against a $45 retail bottle, the markup on the Piper lands at 140% — the only real outlier on this otherwise fair list. It's not highway robbery, but when everything else is marked up 40-70%, this one sticks out. Order the Miraval Rosé instead and pocket the difference.
Elouan Pinot Noir Oregon + Wood-fired proteins
Oregon Pinot and anything coming off a wood fire is a reliable match — the smoke char plays against the wine's fruit and earthiness without either one bulldozing the other. At $16 a glass with a 45% markup, it's also the right call financially.

Maggie's isn't going to make a wine person drive up from the Bay Area, but for a ski-base hotel restaurant it punches well above its weight — fair markups, considered pours, and a list that treats guests like adults. If you're already at Heavenly Village, you're in good hands.

The Cork & More is the kind of place that shouldn't work as well as it does — a wine shop and deli hybrid in a tourist ski town charging near-retail prices. We'd absolutely send a friend here, especially one who's been burned by $80 Napa Cabs at resort restaurants one too many times.

Jimmy's is a dependable resort wine list with some genuine bright spots — just don't expect adventurous pricing or a staff member who can walk you through the Ornellaia. If you're in South Lake Tahoe and want a proper glass of something good with a fire crackling and the lake out the window, you could do a lot worse.

Evan's is the right place for a proper Tahoe date night, and the wine list won't let you down — as long as you go in knowing it's built for comfort, not discovery. Stick to the Kistler or Flowers and you'll drink well; chase the obvious names and you'll overpay for the privilege.

My Thai is a genuine Wild Card — a family Thai joint that somehow assembled a Napa Cab-heavy wine list with real bottles on it, even if the pairing logic is questionable and the markups climb fast. Come for the green curry, order the Santadi, and marvel at the fact that Heitz Trailside exists on this menu at all.

TSK is quietly one of the better wine lists in Newport, which is a town that doesn't exactly set a high bar — but this one would hold its own in most cities. If you're eating farm-to-table food and want a bottle that actually matches the kitchen's ethos, this is your spot.
