Wingman Metrics
You're sitting inside a casino grill, and the wine list arrives looking exactly like you'd expect — a laminated afterthought. Eighteen labels, almost exclusively from two producers, in a format that screams 'we had to put something here.' This is a wine list that exists because restaurants are supposed to have one.
The list is California wall-to-wall, which would be fine if the California in question wasn't almost entirely Robert Mondavi Private Selection and Kendall Jackson — two brands you'd find on any grocery store endcap between the paper towels and the Halloween candy. There's a token nod to something slightly more interesting with the Franciscan Oakville Cabernet, but that's about where the ambition ends. No Gulf Coast producers, no regional curiosity, no attempts to go anywhere beyond the most broadly recognizable labels in American wine retail. The gaps aren't just gaps — they're the whole story.
Eleven by-the-glass pours sounds generous until you realize it's basically the Mondavi Private Selection lineup with a Kendall Jackson track running alongside it. At $9–$12 a glass, you're paying casino-convenience prices for supermarket-tier wine with no rotation or seasonal freshness in sight.
Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon — $25
If you're going to drink anything here, this bottle keeps the damage manageable. It's a workhorse Cab that retails well under $15 — so yes, the markup still stings — but at $25 it's the least painful option on a list full of worse deals.
Franciscan Oakville Cabernet
At $60 it's the priciest bottle on the list, which makes calling it a 'gem' a stretch — but it's the only wine here that steps above the grocery aisle. Franciscan Oakville is a legitimate Napa producer with some actual terroir story to tell, and if you're splitting a bottle at the table, it at least gives you something worth talking about.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio
At $48 a bottle, this is 2005 calling. Santa Margherita built its American reputation on expense-account dinners three decades ago and has been coasting ever since. It's a perfectly neutral Pinot Grigio at a price point that assumes you don't know better. You do.
Kendall Jackson RSV Chardonnay + Fried Shrimp Plate
KJ Chardonnay is oaky, a little sweet, and built for exactly this kind of pairing — something fried and slightly salty that can hold up to all that butter-and-vanilla energy. It's not a sophisticated match, but neither is a casino shrimp plate, and there's no shame in that.
❌ The Bottom Line
CG's is a solid spot to eat a burger before you lose money on the floor — but the wine list is as much of a gamble as the slots, and the house edge is not in your favor. Order a cocktail and move on.
Downtown Gulfport · Gulfport · Steakhouse
The Rack House wine list is exactly what a Gulf Coast steakhouse should be — unpretentious, fairly priced, and wide enough by the glass that you don't feel cornered. We'd send a friend here without hesitation, just with the note to skip the Moscato and go straight for the Ste. Michelle.

Island View Casino · Gulfport · Bar
This is not a destination for wine drinkers — it's a slot machine bar that happens to stock one bubbly. Come for the Sunday bottle deal at Carter Green Steakhouse next door, not for anything happening at the bar itself.

Island View Casino · Gulfport · Seafood / Raw Bar
The food concept is solid, but the wine program is an afterthought in a place that should know better — oysters are practically begging for a decent Muscadet or even a crisp rosé, and the kitchen deserves backup. Come for the shellfish, drink the bubbles on Sunday, and lower your expectations below sea level.

I-10 / Highway 49 Corridor · Gulfport · Hotel Restaurant / American
This is not a wine destination — it's a place to sleep near the highway that happens to have wine on the menu because it's legally a full-service hotel. Order a beer, or head somewhere else entirely.

This is a wine list for people who need wine with dinner and aren't interested in making it a thing — and it delivers exactly that without embarrassing anyone. If wine is important to your night, eat somewhere else; if you just want a glass of something recognizable while you watch the Gulf, you'll be fine.

Gulfport Beachfront / Highway 90 · Gulfport · Hotel Bistro
This is a wine list that exists because the hotel is required to have one. If you're sleeping here, grab a glass of the Clean Slate Riesling and call it a night — but don't make a trip to the Courtyard Bistro for the wine program.

Beau's Grille isn't a destination wine stop, but it's a perfectly competent list for what the room demands — and Thursday's Retail Wine Night is a legitimate reason to plan around it. Send a friend here for steak and wine on a Thursday without hesitation; any other night, manage expectations.

FD's Grillhouse isn't trying to be a wine destination, and it knows it — the list is safe, the markups lean steep, and the by-the-glass selection does most of the heavy lifting. If you're here for burgers and a decent pour, you'll leave fine; just skip The Prisoner and let Catena or Chapoutier do the work.

T-BONES is not a wine destination, and it knows it — the list exists to support the food, not the other way around. If you're in South Willow and you want a decent glass with your haddock or steak tips without getting gouged, this does the job.
