Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Page Road Grill is the restaurant equivalent of a well-pressed oxford shirt — not flashy, but you're not embarrassed to be seen with it. Twenty-eight labels across whites, reds, and sparkling with prices that don't make you wince when the bill comes. It's a list built for people who want a good glass with dinner, not a dissertation.
The list leans California-heavy on reds, which makes sense for a grill format, and there's genuine range from the entry-level Chasing Lions Cab at $40 up to a Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 at $126. What's interesting is the white wine bench — Chehalem INOX, Flowers Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, and a Saldo Chenin Blanc show some actual thought went into the selection beyond the obvious J. Lohr anchors. The Monrosso Tuscan Blend and Toscanan Il Fauna Di Arcanum give a nod to Italy beyond the token Pinot Grigio. Gaps exist — no Burgundy, nothing from Spain or the Southern Hemisphere beyond The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc — but for a Chapel Hill grill, this holds up.
Ten options by the glass is a respectable number, and the $9–$14 price range keeps things accessible. The Zonin Prosecco at $12 a glass anchors the sparkling slot, and the Moulin de Gassac Rosé rounds out the warm-weather options. We'd love to see a little more rotation here — it reads like a static list that hasn't been revisited in a while.
Moulin de Gassac Rosé, France 2025 — $36
Mas de Daumas Gassac's entry-level rosé is a serious Languedoc producer at a price that beats most restaurant markups on comparable French pink. At $36 a bottle, this is the move.
Chehalem INOX Chardonnay 2022
An unoaked Willamette Valley Chardonnay from a producer who actually knows what they're doing — this gets overlooked every time someone reaches for the Flowers. Crisper, more mineral, and $46 well spent for those who don't want their Chard to taste like a vanilla candle.
Honig Sauvignon Blanc 2023
At $65 a bottle, Honig is doing a lot of work justifying that price tag when The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand is sitting right there at $44. The Honig is fine — it's just not $21-better-than-fine.
Treana Red, Cabernet/Syrah Blend 2021 + Grilled ribeye or burger off the grill menu
Treana's Cab-Syrah blend from Paso Robles brings enough dark fruit and structure to stand up to anything coming off a hot grill without overwhelming it. This is exactly what that wine exists for.
The Bottom Line
Page Road Grill isn't trying to be a wine destination and doesn't pretend to be — but the list is priced fairly, shows occasional flashes of genuine curation, and gives you enough options to drink well while you eat. Send a friend here for dinner and tell them to skip the Honig.
Chapel Hill · Chapel Hill · Cajun / Bar Food
Imbibe's wine list is an afterthought in a place where cocktails and beer are clearly the main event — and that's fine, as long as you order accordingly. If you're committed to wine with your étouffée, grab the Mülderbosch and move on.

Hawthorne & Wood isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's doing more than most comparable spots in the area — the list is curated, the glass selection is generous, and a few real gems are hiding in plain sight. Send your friends here with instructions to order the Txakolina and the Rioja and ignore the Cab.

Squid's isn't a wine destination, but it's a very good seafood restaurant with a list that doesn't get in its own way — and that Tuesday half-price bottle deal makes it a legitimate reason to show up on a weeknight. Come for the oysters, order the Sauvignon Blanc, and enjoy yourself.

Carrabba's Chapel Hill isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be — and with $10 off bottles on Wednesdays, it earns its place as a dependable neighborhood dinner with a list that won't embarrass you. Come for the pasta, take the deal, order the Montepulciano.

Outback's wine list is a chain-steakhouse placeholder — functional, familiar, and deeply uninspired. Order a cocktail, enjoy the Bloomin' Onion, and save your wine curiosity for a restaurant that shares it.

This is a hotel-adjacent chain bar doing the bare minimum on wine, and it shows. If you're staying at the DoubleTree and don't want to drive anywhere, grab the J Lohr Cab and call it a night — but don't come here for the list.

Lock Stock isn't a wine destination, but Wednesday's half-price Wine Down with Dr. Frank's Riesling in your glass and $1 wings on the table is genuinely hard to argue with. Come for the deal, stay for the surprise.

The Grille has a wine program that would hold its own in a proper city restaurant, which makes it a legitimate reason to seek out this lodge beyond just the mountain access. Markups are real and the Dom can stay on the shelf, but the Coravin program and the depth of California selections make this a genuine Wild Card worth your attention.
