Wingman Metrics
The wine list at American Bar & Grille reads like a greatest hits album of California wine — you know every track, and honestly, some of them still slap. It's a polished, approachable list that matches the room: warm, contemporary, and built for people who want something good without having to think too hard. No surprises here, which is either comforting or a little boring depending on your mood.
The 100-200 bottle list leans hard into California, and the names are all recognizable — Caymus, Silver Oak, Jordan, Stag's Leap, Duckhorn, Cakebread, Rombauer. These are crowd-pleasers for a reason, and the list earns its Wine Spectator Award of Excellence on sheer reliability. What it lacks is any adventurousness: no Rhône, no Italian, no natural wine rabbit hole to fall down. If you came hoping to discover something new, you're in the wrong room.
With 12-20 options by the glass, there's enough to keep most people happy without committing to a bottle. Expect the usual suspects from California — Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot — poured in a casino hotel setting where turnover keeps things reasonably fresh. Don't expect a rotating, chef-curated glass program; this list is built to move volume, not to challenge you.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon — $75
Jordan consistently over-delivers for its price point — structured, food-friendly, and a natural match for the 36 oz bone-in rib eye. It's the most honest pour on this list relative to what you're getting.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
Most tables here go straight for Caymus or Silver Oak on name recognition alone, but Stag's Leap brings more nuance and structure. It's the wine a Napa enthusiast would order and quietly feel smug about.
Rombauer Vineyards Chardonnay
Rombauer is perfectly fine wine that retails around $35 — so when a casino hotel marks it up to whatever they're charging here, the math gets ugly fast. Order it at your local restaurant instead.
Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot + 36 oz Bone-In Rib Eye
Duckhorn Merlot has enough body and dark fruit to stand up to a massive rib eye without bulldozing it. It's the move when you want something a little softer than a full Cab but still serious enough for the main event.
✔️ The Bottom Line
American Bar & Grille does exactly what a casino hotel grill should do with wine — keeps the familiar names stocked, earns its Award of Excellence, and doesn't embarrass anyone. Just don't come expecting to be surprised, and watch the markup on the grocery-store staples.
Atlantic City Boardwalk · Atlantic City · Steak House
Ocean Steak is a reliable California Cab showcase that does exactly what a boardwalk steakhouse wine list should — it doesn't embarrass you, it doesn't thrill you, but it keeps the Porterhouse company all night. Send a friend here if they want a proper glass with a great steak; don't send them if they're hunting for discovery.

Linguini by the Sea isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's a genuinely solid Italian list in a setting where it could easily be much worse. If you're eating here — and the ocean view alone is reason enough — the wine program will take care of you.

Kuro isn't going to change how you think about wine lists, but it will pour you a genuinely good California Cab or Chardonnay at a fair price while you eat excellent sushi in Atlantic City — and on a Wednesday, when the list goes half-price, it becomes one of the better wine deals on the Jersey Shore. Send a friend who likes recognizable names done well.

Dock's is a reliable institution that earns its Wine Spectator credential without really pushing anyone's limits — the list is solid, California-forward, and overpriced at the top end, but Wednesday half-price wine night makes it genuinely worth a visit. Send your friends here for the oysters; tell them to stick to the mid-list whites.

Council Oak is a reliable, well-stocked casino steakhouse wine list — California-focused, safely curated, and priced for a night when the slots were good. Don't come hunting for discovery, but if you want a great bottle of Napa Cab with your steak on the boardwalk, you'll leave happy enough.

Capriccio isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's a genuinely solid list for what it is — an upscale Italian on the Atlantic City Boardwalk with real producers, fair prices, and a Tuesday half-price night that's worth planning around. If you're already there for the osso buco, you're in good hands.

Order a cocktail. The wine list exists because restaurants are expected to have one, not because anyone here cares about what's in your glass. If you want to drink wine in Niagara Falls, cross the bridge and find a winery.

We're not here to pile on a chain restaurant — Applebee's knows exactly what it is. But if wine matters to you even a little, order a cocktail and save your wine night for somewhere that's actually trying.

Copper Rill isn't going to blow anyone's mind, but for a riverfront dinner in Idaho Falls, the wine list is honest, fairly priced, and has at least two or three bottles worth caring about. Send a friend here for the Lan Crianza and the river view — just don't expect anyone behind the bar to geek out with you about it.
