Wingman Metrics
The wine list at The Family Dog is exactly five lines long — Cab, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Rosé — and that tells you everything you need to know. This is a place that added wine to the menu because it had to, not because anyone thought hard about it. No producers, no regions, no story.
Five varietal names with no producer information is less a wine list and more a placeholder. There's no regional identity here, no interesting grapes, no effort to go one level deeper than the most recognizable names in the grocery aisle. A gastropub concept deserves at least a nod toward something interesting — a GSM, a Grüner, anything — but the list doesn't try. If you're a wine drinker, you've already been warned.
Every wine on the list is available by the glass, which makes sense because there are only five of them and apparently no bottles. Prices run $8–$9/glass, which is genuinely fair for Atlanta — you won't feel robbed. You just won't feel excited either.
The Bottom Line
The Family Dog prices its wine reasonably, and credit where it's due — $8–$9 a glass is honest money. But five unnamed, producer-free varietals is not a wine program; it's an afterthought. If you're here for the pub experience, lean into a beer and come back to wine somewhere that actually cares.

Edgar's Proof & Provision isn't trying to be a wine destination and it doesn't pretend to be — the list is short, familiar, and priced fairly for what it is. If you're here with a group that can't agree on anything, the fact that every bottle is available by the glass saves the night. Send a friend here for beer or cocktails; if they end up with a Felino Malbec or a Sea Sun Pinot Noir, they won't be unhappy.

Vinings · Atlanta · Gastropub/Tavern
Meehan's Vinings is a pub that happens to have wine on the menu, and the wine program reflects exactly that level of ambition. Pricing is fair and the by-the-glass selection covers the bases, but there's no depth, no discovery, and no sign that anyone thought hard about this list. Order a beer or a whiskey — that's what this place does well.

Snap Thai Fish House has no business having a wine list this size — and yet here it is, doing something genuinely useful by loading up on crisp whites that actually work with spicy, aromatic Thai food. The markups are steep across the board, so target the Riesling and the Jermann and let your wallet breathe a little. If you're eating Thai and want wine instead of beer, this is a far better situation than you'd find at most comparable spots in Atlanta.

Industry Tavern is a fine place to have a beer. The wine list, at just twelve labels, all reliable and none remarkable, signals that wine is not this kitchen's conversation partner. If you're eating here and want a glass, the Benton Lane Pinot Noir or the Vinho Verde are the most defensible choices — but we wouldn't make a trip here for the list.

Buckhead · Atlanta · New American/Southern
The Chastain runs a small, sharp wine list that most people in Atlanta haven't given enough credit to — it earns a Wild Card badge because finding Lopez Heredia and Pax Mahle Chenin Blanc on the same menu as Damilano Barolo at a New American spot in Buckhead is genuinely unexpected. If you're eating here, skip the obvious bottle and let the list surprise you.

Confab's all-by-the-glass format is genuinely smart and removes the usual friction of wine list navigation. The pricing is fair across the board and the white and sparkling selections show real range — just don't come in expecting a serious red wine moment. If you're here for a couple of glasses with dinner, you'll leave happy.

The Olde Blind Dog is a pub first and a wine destination never — but it's put together a 20-bottle list that's functional and occasionally surprising, which is more than most places with shamrocks on the sign bother to do. If you're here for a pint, stay for a pint. If a friend insists on wine, steer them toward the Neyers or the Stags Leap and call it a win.

Century House Tavern is a genuinely appealing spot — good food, great vibe, solid casual-upscale energy for Woodstock. The wine program, though, remains a bit of a mystery to us. We'd head here for the shrimp and grits and the garden patio without hesitation, but we'd need a lot more sourced detail on the wine list before we could send you here specifically for the bottle.

Dresden · Atlanta · Gastropub/Tavern
Dresden Tavern isn't trying to be a wine destination, and that's fine — it's a neighborhood tavern doing neighborhood tavern things. The list is familiar, prices are fair for the format, and having the entire program available by the glass is genuinely useful. If you're here for a burger and a glass of something decent, the Domaine Bousquet Malbec or White Haven Sauv Blanc will take care of you without drama.
