Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Phillips Seafood is exactly what you'd expect from a casual seafood chain: safe, recognizable names, nothing that's going to surprise you or embarrass you. At 23 labels with 19 by-the-glass options, this is a list built for accessibility, not ambition. The price ceiling tops out at $48 a bottle, which tells you pretty much everything.
The list leans hard into mass-market grocery store staples — Josh Cellars, Ecco Domani, Dark Horse, Whispering Angel — names you recognize from the wine aisle at Kroger. There's a token nod to something slightly more interesting with the Mer Soleil Silver Unoaked Chardonnay and the Trivento White Malbec, but the overall philosophy here is 'nobody gets confused, nobody gets disappointed.' Reds are an afterthought: two Cabs, a Merlot, a Pinot Noir, and a Malbec, none of which have any business being prioritized at a seafood restaurant. The list covers the basics regionally — Argentina sneaks in with Terrazas and Trivento, and there's a Prosecco for the bubbles crowd — but any sense of curation stops there.
Nineteen by-the-glass options out of 23 total bottles is actually an impressive ratio, and at $7–$12 a glass, the pricing is reasonable. The downside is that quantity doesn't equal quality here — you're choosing between a lot of familiar, unchallenging pours rather than anything that makes you lean forward in your seat. At least the glass program means you can try a few things without committing to a bottle.
The Bottom Line
Phillips Seafood isn't trying to be a wine destination, and the list makes that crystal clear. The pricing is fair enough that you won't feel robbed, and the by-the-glass selection is broad enough to find something drinkable — but the list reads like it was assembled by committee using the most recognizable labels available. Grab the Mer Soleil with your crab, skip the Whispering Angel markup, and temper your expectations accordingly.

Dunwoody · Atlanta · New American/Southern
Parkwoods is a dependable wine stop — nothing here will make you a convert, but nothing will embarrass you at a client dinner either. If you're already eating here for the fried chicken or the steaks, order the wine confidently; just don't expect the list to be the reason you came. The Backyard patio is genuinely nice, and a cold glass of something simple out there on a good Atlanta evening is its own reward.

Midtown · Atlanta · New American/Southern
Midtown Social is a bar with a wine list, not a wine bar with a kitchen — and the list makes that hierarchy clear. Pricing is fair relative to what's poured, and the $5 house glass program gives it a pulse, but this is the kind of list you drink from because it's there, not because it brought you in. If wine is why you're going out tonight, this isn't your spot.

The Family Dog prices its wine reasonably, and credit where it's due — $8–$9 a glass is honest money. But five unnamed, producer-free varietals is not a wine program; it's an afterthought. If you're here for the pub experience, lean into a beer and come back to wine somewhere that actually cares.

Edgar's Proof & Provision isn't trying to be a wine destination and it doesn't pretend to be — the list is short, familiar, and priced fairly for what it is. If you're here with a group that can't agree on anything, the fact that every bottle is available by the glass saves the night. Send a friend here for beer or cocktails; if they end up with a Felino Malbec or a Sea Sun Pinot Noir, they won't be unhappy.

Vinings · Atlanta · Gastropub/Tavern
Meehan's Vinings is a pub that happens to have wine on the menu, and the wine program reflects exactly that level of ambition. Pricing is fair and the by-the-glass selection covers the bases, but there's no depth, no discovery, and no sign that anyone thought hard about this list. Order a beer or a whiskey — that's what this place does well.

Snap Thai Fish House has no business having a wine list this size — and yet here it is, doing something genuinely useful by loading up on crisp whites that actually work with spicy, aromatic Thai food. The markups are steep across the board, so target the Riesling and the Jermann and let your wallet breathe a little. If you're eating Thai and want wine instead of beer, this is a far better situation than you'd find at most comparable spots in Atlanta.

Alici is doing something genuinely interesting with 25 bottles — leaning into high-acid, food-driven picks that make the seafood menu sing. We don't have price data to fully validate the value story, but the intentionality of this list is hard to ignore. If you're going for oysters, this wine program was built with you in mind.

Fish Thyme earns a Reliable badge on the strength of its reputation as a legit neighborhood seafood destination — the food sounds genuinely good, and the atmosphere is right for a proper dinner out. But we don't have enough verified wine data to give you confident bottle-by-bottle advice, so check the list when you arrive, lean toward whites, and ask your server what's open and drinking well that night.

Ocean & Acre isn't trying to be a wine destination, but the list punches above its weight for a suburban seafood spot — fair markups, a thoughtful glass program, and a few genuinely interesting picks tucked in alongside the crowd-pleasers. If you're eating seafood in Alpharetta and want a decent bottle without getting gouged, this is your place.
