Wingman Metrics
The wine list arrives laminated and generic, the same one you'll find at every Olive Garden from here to Albuquerque. It's organized by sweetness level, which tells you everything about who this list is designed for — and it isn't anyone who thinks much about wine. There's nothing offensive here, but there's nothing interesting either.
Twenty-something bottles, split between heavily sweet domestic crowd-pleasers and a thin Italian anchor of Cavit Pinot Grigio, Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico, and Castello del Poggio Moscato. The Chianti Classico is the lone wine with any real Italian identity — everything else is either a national chain brand (Robert Mondavi Private Selection, Meiomi Pinot Noir, Sutter Home White Zinfandel) or a sugary blend designed to taste like dessert. Regions like Piedmont, Campania, Sicily, and Abruzzo — you know, Italy — are completely absent. The house wines don't list a producer, which is never a good sign.
Ten to fourteen pours on any given visit, and the majority lean sweet or neutral. You're getting Roscato Rosso Dolce, Confetti Sweet Pink Moscato, and Primo Amore Moscato doing most of the heavy lifting for the by-the-glass crowd. The Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling is the most versatile pour in the lineup and probably the most overlooked.
Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico — $8
It's the only wine on this list that actually belongs in an Italian restaurant. Rocca delle Macie is a legitimate Chianti Classico producer, and at around $8 a glass it's the closest thing to a fair deal here — drink this before defaulting to the house red.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling
Most people skip Riesling entirely, but Chateau Ste. Michelle's Washington state bottling is reliably good — bright, off-dry, and cut with enough acidity to actually work with food. In a list full of flat, sweet pours, this one has structure.
Sutter Home White Zinfandel
Sutter Home White Zinfandel at a restaurant markup is the most depressing glass of wine you can order in 2024. You can buy this at a gas station for less than the pour price. Pass.
Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico + Chicken Parmigiana
Sangiovese and tomato sauce are one of Italy's most reliable combinations — the wine's acidity cuts through the sauce and the crunch of the breading without overpowering anything. It's the one moment on this list where the food and wine actually make sense together.
❌ The Bottom Line
Olive Garden's wine list exists to check a box, not to enhance a meal — it's corporate, static, and marked up past the point of good value. Order the Chianti Classico if you must, but honestly, grab the cocktail menu instead.

Texas Roadhouse is not a wine destination and makes no pretense of being one — the food is the point, and the wine list is a legal obligation. Order a beer, enjoy the rolls, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that earned it.

The Butter Churn is doing something genuinely surprising for central Pennsylvania — a thoughtful, well-sourced wine list that goes beyond the expected and rewards the curious drinker. If you're anywhere near State College and care about what's in your glass, this deserves a visit.

Happy Valley Brewing Company is a beer destination with a wine list that exists out of obligation, not passion. If your table skips the beer, order the Whitehaven and move on — don't go chasing depth that isn't here.

The Field is a tap bar first, wine program distant second — and that's fine, as long as you know what you're walking into. Order the Malbec, enjoy your burger, and save the serious wine drinking for somewhere else.

The Field's wine list is functional at best and forgettable at worst — it exists to serve people who want something other than a beer, not to make anyone excited about what's in their glass. Order the Hawstone Hollow out of regional solidarity, grab the Tilia Malbec with your burger, and let the cocktail menu do the heavy lifting the rest of the night.

Mamma Lucrezia's isn't a destination wine list, but the Wednesday half-price bottle deal changes the math considerably — suddenly that Joseph Phelps looks a lot more interesting. Show up any other night and manage expectations; show up Wednesday and order what you actually want.

Central Avenue / South Hot Springs · Hot Springs · Italian Chain
Olive Garden's wine list is the automotive equivalent of a rental car: it gets you where you're going, nobody's excited about it, and you return it without a second thought. Come for the breadsticks, drink the Chianti, and keep your expectations appropriately parked.

Mesa Mall / Rimrock Avenue · Grand Junction · Italian Chain
The wine list at Olive Garden Grand Junction is a corporate afterthought dressed up in Italian branding — fair prices save it from being a total disaster, but there's no ambition, no discovery, and no reason to think hard about what you order. Stick with the Chianti, enjoy the breadsticks, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that earned it.

North Bismarck · Bismarck · Italian Chain
Olive Garden Bismarck is a fine place to eat breadsticks and catch up with family. It is not a fine place to drink wine — the list is predictable, the markups are punishing, and nobody here is losing sleep over the cellar. Order the Riesling or the Chianti Classico, skip everything else, and save the serious bottle for a different night.
