Wingman Metrics
The wine list at J. Alexander's Boca Raton reads like a greatest-hits album you've heard a hundred times — Rombauer, Jordan, Meiomi, Whispering Angel. It's comfortable and crowd-tested, which is exactly what this polished wood-paneled room is going for. No surprises, no risks, no apologies.
Forty to sixty labels deep, and California dominates almost every page — Chardonnay and Cabernet rule the roost, with a few token international names sprinkled in to say they tried. You won't find a Burgundy village wine, a serious Barolo, or anything that requires explanation. What you will find is a list that sells itself to the prime rib crowd without a single hard conversation, which is fine until you start comparing retail prices to what's on the check.
Twelve to eighteen pours by the glass is genuinely generous for a steakhouse of this type, and the range covers the obvious bases — Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Rosé. The problem is that glass prices start at $10 and climb to $18, which on bottles sitting at $14 retail starts to feel less like hospitality and more like math. Rotation appears minimal; this list isn't chasing seasons.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley — $100
Jordan is one of the few bottles on this list with actual pedigree and a track record. It's still marked up, but you're getting a wine that delivers structure and age-worthiness that the rest of the list simply can't match — worth it if you're splitting it at the table over a real steak.
Whispering Angel Rosé, Côtes de Provence
Yes, it's everywhere. But in a room full of heavy Cabs and oaky Chards, a glass of Whispering Angel with the grilled salmon is the move most people at this restaurant won't make — and they're missing out. It's the most food-friendly wine on the list.
Meiomi Pinot Noir, California
Meiomi is a $12 bottle at every grocery store in Florida. Paying steakhouse markup on a mass-produced blended Pinot designed to taste like dessert is a hard pass. Put that money toward the Jordan.
Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast + Grilled Salmon
Sonoma-Cutrer has enough weight and restrained oak to hold up against the char on the salmon without bulldozing the fish — it's the rare pairing on this list where the wine actually earns its place on the table.
✔️ The Bottom Line
J. Alexander's Boca Raton is a reliable, no-drama wine stop that won't embarrass you on a business dinner or a first date — just go in knowing the markups are real and steer toward Jordan or Sonoma-Cutrer instead of the list's cheaper options. We'd send a friend here for the steak, not the wine discovery.
Unknown · Boca Raton · Upscale Casual Grill
Madison's wine list is the restaurant equivalent of a firm handshake — reliable, familiar, and unlikely to disappoint or impress. Send a friend here if they want a safe, solid bottle with a good steak; steer them elsewhere if they're looking for something to talk about.

Novello is the best Italian wine list in Boca Raton you're likely to find, and the BTG program alone is worth the trip. Just go in knowing the markups reflect the zip code, not a bargain hunter's paradise.

Savia is doing something genuinely uncommon in Boca Raton: building a wine list around a single region with real intention and credible producers. The markup stings and the list won't satisfy everyone, but if you care about Sicilian wine at all, this is the most interesting glass you'll find in the city.

Meat Market Boca is a reliable wine destination for steakhouse standards — the list is deep enough to be interesting, the by-the-glass program is stronger than average, and Wine Mondays turn a steep list into a genuinely smart night out. Show up Tuesday through Sunday expecting to pay for the room; show up Monday and actually enjoy the wine.

Dorsia's wine list is exactly what it wants to be — polished, crowd-pleasing, and priced for a room that's spending freely. If you're after discovery or value, you'll have to work for it; if you're here for the scene and a great steak, Caymus and a Super Tuscan have you covered.

Louie Bossi's isn't going to win any awards for wine curation, but that daily half-price bottle program is a legitimate reason to show up. Order an entrée, pick strategically, and you'll drink better than the list price would ever suggest.

Shakers isn't a wine destination — it's a reliable neighborhood spot where the wine program does its job without drama. If you're here for ribs and a casual pour, you'll leave satisfied; just don't show up expecting discovery.

Hollywood's is a genuinely charming neighborhood spot, and the wine list is exactly what it needs to be for a casual lunch crowd — cheap, safe, and inoffensive. Don't come here for the wine; come here for the soup, and order the Riesling if you want something in your glass.

Chili's Yuma is a place to drink a margarita and eat fajitas, and there is absolutely no shame in that. Just don't come here for the wine — order a cocktail, enjoy your ribs, and save the bottle of wine for somewhere that actually cares.
