Walk into Iris Vineyards and you're immediately disarmed β this isn't trying to be Portland, and that's exactly what makes it work. A cozy, unpretentious tasting room in downtown Springfield with patio seating and an actual sense of place. The list is short, but it's theirs, and they own it.
Four labels isn't a wine list β it's a manifesto. Iris leans hard into their own Oregon production: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Malbec anchor the dry side, while a 2019 RosΓ© of Pinot Noir and the 2019 Sweet Amalia dessert wine round things out. The wildcard here is the 2018 Quinta do Calice, a Portuguese-style fortified wine that has absolutely no business being this interesting in a Springfield strip. Sparkling options add a celebratory option without much fuss. What it lacks in breadth, it makes up for in focus β this is a producer pouring their own stuff, not a curated list of someone else's highlights.
Flights at $12 are the move here β they let you work through the range without committing to a full bottle of something you've never heard of. Individual glass pricing isn't publicly listed, but given the producer-direct model and the approachable vibe, we don't expect sticker shock. The wine cocktail program adds a casual entry point for guests who aren't ready to go full tasting room.
2019 RosΓ© of Pinot Noir β $12 flight
Oregon Pinot Noir rosΓ© from the producer's own estate in a $12 flight is an honest deal β you're tasting the real thing, not a bulk import dressed up with a pretty label.
2018 Quinta do Calice
A Portuguese-style fortified wine coming out of Oregon is genuinely strange and genuinely interesting. Most people at the table will walk past it; don't. It's the most unexpected thing on the list and worth every sip.
Malbec
Malbec in the Willamette Valley is a bit of a square peg. Oregon's climate doesn't push this grape the way Mendoza does, and with Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris being the house strengths, there's no reason to reach for the outlier here.
2019 Sweet Amalia + Cheese and charcuterie board
A dessert wine against salty, funky aged cheeses is a classic for a reason β the sweetness cuts through the fat and the contrast makes both taste better. This is the ending move on a charcuterie board.
π² The Bottom Line
Iris Vineyards is a small producer doing their own thing in a town people usually drive through without stopping β and that's exactly why it's worth stopping. If you like the idea of drinking estate Oregon wine poured by people who actually grew it, this is your place.

B2 isn't trying to be a wine destination and doesn't need to be β it's a neighborhood spot with a list that respects both the region and your wallet. Send a friend here and tell them to order the Owen Roe Syrah before someone else does.

Valley River / North Eugene Β· Eugene Β· Japanese, teppanyaki, sushi
Fuji is a genuinely fun night out β the teppanyaki show is the main event and it delivers β but the wine list is strictly an afterthought, with steep markups on uninspired brands and zero connection to the cuisine or the local Oregon wine scene. Order the Riesling or the plum wine, enjoy the fire, and don't overthink it.

Kirin isn't a wine destination and it doesn't pretend to be β but the prices are fair and the Riesling with your General Tso's is a quiet win. Order accordingly and keep your expectations calibrated.

Makoto's wine list is exactly what it is β a small, sensible selection built for a neighborhood Japanese spot that cares more about the food than the cellar. Order the Riesling, don't overthink it, and you'll leave happy.

Two50 is a dependable wine stop if you're already staying at the Graduate and don't want to venture out β but it's not a destination. Lean into the local Oregon pours, skip the marked-up commodity bottles, and you'll have a perfectly fine evening.

Plank Town is a genuinely good brewpub and you should absolutely go there β just order a beer. The wine list exists to accommodate the one person in a group who doesn't drink beer, and it does that job adequately and nothing more.

Firehouse is the kind of place that shouldn't exist in this market but does, and Mobile is better for it. If you're anywhere near downtown, walk in, let the shelves surprise you, and order a flight.

Blend is doing something genuinely rare for its market β a tight, thoughtful list full of wines that actual wine nerds seek out, in a city where the default is big California cabs and unoaked chardonnay. If you're anywhere near downtown Baton Rouge and you care about what's in your glass, this is the move.

Turquoise Wine Bar is the kind of place that earns its Wild Card badge honestly β not by being weird for weird's sake, but by curating a genuinely curious list in a zip code that didn't ask for one. Send your wine-curious friends here; they'll leave with something new to talk about.
