You open the list at Edgewood and the first thing you notice is that it takes itself seriously — a sommelier on staff, 200-plus bottles, and a California-heavy lineup that leans hard into Napa Valley prestige names. The setting doesn't hurt: floor-to-ceiling views of Lake Tahoe have a way of making a $180 bottle of Opus One feel almost reasonable. Almost.
California is the clear star here, with Napa Cabernet doing most of the heavy lifting — Caymus Special Selection, Jordan, Far Niente, and Opus One anchor the upper tier, while the Pacific Northwest and imported French and Italian bottles round out the edges without much depth. It's a crowd-pleasing structure built for resort guests who want a recognizable label, not a deep dive into lesser-known appellations. There's nothing wrong with it, but adventurous drinkers hoping to find a Willamette Valley outlier or a grower Champagne will have to look hard. The list works best when you stay in its wheelhouse: mature California reds with something to prove.
With 20-plus options by the glass, there's enough rotation across both the Bistro and Edge programs to keep things interesting across a weekend stay. The sommelier's presence means the glass pours aren't purely default picks — you're likely to find at least one or two Chardonnay and Cabernet options worth the pour. That said, at resort by-the-glass pricing, you'll want to ask what's currently pouring before committing.
Jordan Winery Cabernet Sauvignon — $85
Jordan consistently punches above its retail price in restaurant settings, and at Edgewood it's one of the more reasonably marked-up bottles on a list that otherwise trends toward trophy pricing. It's a polished Alexander Valley Cab that won't embarrass you on a table with high expectations.
Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot
Everyone walks past the Merlot on the way to the Cabernet. Don't. Duckhorn's Napa Valley Merlot is one of the most consistently well-made bottles in the region, and on a list stacked with bold Cabs, it offers structure and elegance without the markup premium that comes attached to the Caymus or Opus One bottles.
Opus One
It's a genuinely great wine, and we're not here to argue with Robert Mondavi's legacy — but Opus One at a resort carries a 3-4x retail markup that's hard to justify when you can drink Jordan or Far Niente for a fraction of the damage. Save the Opus One splurge for a night when the bottle is the whole occasion.
Far Niente Chardonnay + Pan-seared fresh fish
Far Niente's Napa Chardonnay has enough oak and richness to hold its own against a buttery pan sauce without steamrolling delicate lake or Pacific fish. At a lakeside resort, it's the obvious move — and occasionally the obvious move is obvious for a reason.

Edgewood Tahoe is a reliable wine destination for resort dining — the sommelier keeps the program honest, the glass options are solid, and the California heavyweights on the bottle list deliver. Just go in knowing you're paying for the view as much as the wine, and budget accordingly.

The Cork & More is the kind of place that shouldn't work as well as it does — a wine shop and deli hybrid in a tourist ski town charging near-retail prices. We'd absolutely send a friend here, especially one who's been burned by $80 Napa Cabs at resort restaurants one too many times.

Maggie's isn't going to make a wine person drive up from the Bay Area, but for a ski-base hotel restaurant it punches well above its weight — fair markups, considered pours, and a list that treats guests like adults. If you're already at Heavenly Village, you're in good hands.

Jimmy's is a dependable resort wine list with some genuine bright spots — just don't expect adventurous pricing or a staff member who can walk you through the Ornellaia. Evan's is the right place for a proper Tahoe date night, and the wine list won't let you down — as long as you go in knowing it's built for comfort, not discovery. Stick to the Kistler or Flowers and you'll drink well; chase the obvious names and you'll overpay for the privilege.

My Thai is a genuine Wild Card — a family Thai joint that somehow assembled a Napa Cab-heavy wine list with real bottles on it, even if the pairing logic is questionable and the markups climb fast. Come for the green curry, order the Santadi, and marvel at the fact that Heitz Trailside exists on this menu at all.

The Lodge surprises — in the best way — with a wine list that has no business being this considered at a neighborhood golf course restaurant in the Sierra. Markups creep toward steep on the prestige bottles, but the depth and range here beat 90% of similarly-priced mountain dining rooms. Worth the detour if you're in Truckee and want something more than a grocery store Cabernet with your ribeye.

Out of the Fire is a dependable wine stop in a town that doesn't have many — the California-focused list is a little one-note, but the pricing is honest and there are a few genuinely interesting bottles hiding in the lineup. Send a friend here for dinner, point them to the Cab Franc, and tell them to skip the bourbon barrel novelty act.

The Preacher's Son is the best wine list in Northwest Arkansas by a comfortable margin, and it would be a respectable list in most major cities. The markup keeps it from sainthood, but if you're eating here, you're already spending money — lean into the Rioja or the Rhône blanc and don't look back.
