Wingman Metrics
The wine list at So is exactly what you'd expect from a polished suburban date-night spot: familiar names, approachable labels, nothing that's going to challenge you or surprise you. It's curated for the diner who wants Cabernet and doesn't want to think too hard about it. That's not an insult — it's a choice, and they commit to it.
Thirty-one labels split across predictable categories: Cabernet Sauvignon gets the most real estate, with five bottles anchored by the Faust Napa Valley 2022 at $132 and the Orin Swift Eight Years in the Desert 2023 at $130 as the prestige picks. The Italian corner has some genuine interest — G.D. Vajra Albe Barolo 2022 at $120 and Brancaia TRE Rossa Toscana 2023 at $60 give it more depth than the rest of the list suggests. Pinot Noir covers three solid regions (Central Coast, Willamette Valley, Russian River Valley), and the J Vineyards Russian River 2022 at $120 is the most ambitious pour in that category. The gaps are real: no white wines appear in the sourced data beyond a single Chardonnay, and the sparkling section leans on Prosecco and Moët rather than anything unexpected.
Twenty-two by-the-glass options is an unusually high count for a 31-bottle list — nearly everything pours by the glass, which is great for groups with different tastes. Prices run $11–$17/glass, and the range covers the key reds well, including the Benton Lane Willamette Pinot Noir at $16/glass and the Faustino VII Tempranillo Rioja 2023 at $15/glass. We see no evidence of a rotating BTG program, so don't expect seasonal surprises.
Faustino VII Tempranillo Rioja 2023 — $15/glass, $60/bottle
Rioja at this price is quietly one of the better deals on the list — a legitimate Spanish red with real regional character, priced alongside domestic crowd-pleasers that give you far less to talk about.
G.D. Vajra Albe Barolo 2022
Most tables at So are ordering Cabernet, which means this Barolo quietly sits there for the person who knows to ask. Vajra is a respected Piedmont producer, and Barolo on a Contemporary American list this focused on California is genuinely unexpected — order it before someone else figures that out.
Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial
At $138/bottle, you're paying deep restaurant markup on one of the most mass-produced Champagnes in the world. If you want bubbles, the Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs at $88 is the smarter move — it's a better bottle for the context and leaves money on the table for another glass of something.
Brancaia TRE Rossa Toscana 2023 + Eggplant Lasagna
Brancaia TRE is a Sangiovese-forward Tuscan blend with enough acidity and earthiness to handle a rich, herb-driven vegetarian pasta without steamrolling it. It's the kind of pairing that works not because it's clever but because Tuscany has been doing this for centuries.
The Bottom Line
So has a wine list built to please a suburban dinner crowd without ruffling any feathers, and it largely succeeds at that narrow goal. The markup is real — most bottles sit at 3–4x retail — but the by-the-glass breadth gives you options to keep the tab reasonable. If you're a wine-first diner, this isn't your destination; if you're here for the scene and the food, you'll find something perfectly fine to drink.

Midtown · Atlanta · American Tavern
Hobnob is a neighborhood tavern that happens to have wine on the menu, not a restaurant with a wine program. If beer or cocktails are your thing, you're in good hands. But if wine matters to you tonight, this list will let you down — nine reds with no pricing transparency and no range to speak of. Order a bourbon.

Tavola Trattoria's wine program is five bottles deep and priced without apology — $101 for a Saracco Moscato is the kind of markup that makes you consider ordering water and going wine shopping after dinner. The list has no still wines at all, which is a strange call for an Italian restaurant. Order a cocktail or ask if they have a corkage policy, because this wine list isn't doing you any favors.

La Tavola is an Italian restaurant with a five-bottle wine list that stops at sparkling and rosé — no reds, no whites, no depth whatsoever. The pricing on what's there is difficult to justify. Unless you came specifically for Lambrusco or Franciacorta, you're better off calling ahead to ask about corkage.

Midtown · Atlanta · Wine bar and bottle shop
Mac's Beer & Wine Midtown is a bottle shop doing more than it advertises — 142 labels, fair pricing, and enough range to reward some shelf-browsing time. It's not a wine bar destination in the traditional sense, but if you're looking for a specific producer or want to take something interesting home without a markup that makes you wince, this is the play. We'd send a friend here to shop, not necessarily to sit.

Downtown Atlanta · Atlanta · Cocktail and Wine Bar
Lumen Bar is a beautiful place to have a drink, and if cocktails are your thing, you're in better hands than if you're leaning on the wine list. The atmosphere delivers; the wine program, based on what we can piece together, doesn't earn the same score. If wine matters to you, there are better spots within walking distance of Peachtree Street.

Il Giallo runs one of the more thoughtful Italian wine programs in Atlanta — 35 by-the-glass options with genuine regional range is rare, and the pricing stays fair across most of the list. If you're willing to skip the comfort picks and lean into the Sardinian whites or the Abruzzo reds, you'll drink very well here. Send a friend who actually likes Italian wine; tell the one who always orders Rombauer to sit down.

Sabira has built something genuinely worth noticing for Toledo: a compact, mostly European list that takes real swings with appellations like Grasparossa di Castelvetro and Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Pricing data isn't available to us, and the BTG program is unclear — so call ahead or ask on arrival. If the staff knows this list as well as whoever curated it seems to, this is an easy recommendation for anyone tired of the same regional Chardonnay-and-Cab circuit.

A one-page list that mixes Greek, Italian and French bottles with Cristal, Taittinger and Laurent-Perrier Champagnes, and posts many prices as two unlabeled numbers. Start with the Gai'a Assyrtiko (70 / 17) alongside the wood-fired octopus, or take the Les Girelles Picpoul (48 / 12) on a Tuesday, when the list says bottles at $99 and less are half off (bubbles and Champagne excluded). This unrated guide covers the posted wine list, not service, storage or markups, and the list carries no printed date, so confirm current availability and ask which number is the glass.

A bottle-only list that runs from $57 to $1,988, with no by-the-glass section posted. Start with the 2020 CVNE Crianza at $57/bottle or the 2013 López de Heredia at $145/bottle, and confirm today's list because it carries no print date. This unrated guide covers the posted wine list, not service, storage or markups.
