The wine list at Brasserie 292 feels like it was built by someone who actually thought about the food — heavy French lean, a few smart American additions, and nothing obviously out of place. At 95 labels, it's substantial without being overwhelming. It fits the room: classic bistro energy, no pretension.
France is the clear anchor here, with solid representation across Bordeaux, Burgundy, Loire, and Champagne — the regions you'd actually want at a French brasserie. The Champagne section punches above its weight, pulling names like Billecart-Salmon and Laherte Frères alongside more accessible sparklers. The American side leans into Hudson Valley with a nod to Millbrook Vineyards, which is a genuine local callout worth appreciating. The list doesn't wander far — you're not finding Ribera del Duero or Alsace hiding in the back — but what's here is coherent and purposeful.
About a dozen pours by the glass is a reasonable spread for a room this size, and the selections track the list's French-forward identity without going too obscure. The Domaine de la Renouere Muscadet is a smart, food-friendly pour that most tables will walk past without a second look — their loss. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority here, but the current lineup holds up.

Muscadet is criminally underrated and criminally underpriced — this is classic, briny Loire Valley Melon de Bourgogne that earns its keep next to a bowl of mussels at a fraction of what you'd pay for a Burgundy that doesn't work half as well.
Laherte Frères Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs, Épernay 2021
Most people scroll past grower Champagne on a list like this and go straight for the Billecart. Don't. Laherte Frères is a small, family-run house making genuinely expressive Champagne with zero dosage — this is the bottle for the table that actually wants to drink well.
Scharffenberger Brut Excellence, Mendocino NV
It's a perfectly fine California sparkling wine, but sitting next to Billecart-Salmon and Laherte Frères on the same list, it looks like the odd one out. The step-up options are worth the extra spend — save this one for brunches where the context is right.
Domaine de la Renouere Muscadet, Loire Valley + Moules marinières
This is one of the great auto-pilot pairings in French cuisine — the high acid and sea-salt character of Muscadet locks in with steamed mussels in white wine broth like they were made for each other. Because they were.

Brasserie 292 built a wine list that respects the food and respects your wallet, which is more than most places in this price range manage. Send your friends here — just make sure they order the Muscadet.

Olive Garden's wine list is exactly what you'd expect from a national chain that considers breadsticks the main event — functional, safe, and completely unambitious. Come for the pasta, drink the Chianti Classico, and don't expect anything more.

If you're in the Hudson Valley and want a low-risk way to drink something interesting by the glass without a big commitment, this list earns the stop.
