Wingman Metrics
The wine list at UP on the Roof arrives with all the ambition of a hotel minibar. Five labels total — and that number includes Mionetto Prosecco listed three separate times, which suggests either a formatting error or a very enthusiastic commitment to one bottle of bubbly.
There's no diplomatic way to say this: five entries, two of which are house-branded wine spritzers and three of which are the same Mionetto Prosecco, is not a wine list — it's a drinks afterthought. There's no region diversity, no still wine by the bottle worth discussing, and no indication that anyone gave the wine program more than fifteen minutes of thought. The menu context is brunch, which explains some of the spritz-forward lean, but it doesn't excuse the absence of even a token red or white option beyond the spritzer category.
Two by-the-glass options exist: a Red Wine Spritz and a White Wine Spritz, both at $10/glass. That's the entire pour program. If you were hoping for something to sip that doesn't involve carbonation and a flavor modifier, you're out of luck here.
The Bottom Line
UP on the Roof may have a great view and a solid brunch menu, but the wine program isn't a reason to visit — it's barely a reason to look up from the cocktail list. If wine matters to you even a little, order something bubbly and move on; there's nothing here to chase.

Royalz is a lounge first and a wine destination never. The flat $12-a-glass pricing hides a list where most bottles cost less than a movie ticket at retail, and the Josh Cellars takeover makes it feel like no one is steering this ship. If you're here for the atmosphere, stick to cocktails — or order the Maison L'Envoyé and don't look too hard at anything else.

· Alpharetta · Gastropub/Tavern
Taffer's Tavern Alpharetta isn't trying to impress wine people, and that's fine — it's a gastropub with a crowd-pleasing list built for guests who want a bottle they already know. If you're with a table full of Caymus fans, everyone goes home happy. If you're hoping for something interesting or fairly priced, the Greywacke is your best play and then let it go.

Secreto is putting in more effort than most kitchens in this zip code when it comes to wine — a structured list, real producers, and 14 glass pours tells you someone cares. The markups lean steep in places, especially on the sparkling side, but the Esmonin Pinot and Hartford Court Bordeaux Blanc represent genuine finds worth ordering. If you're in Alpharetta and want a solid bottle with dinner without driving to Atlanta, this gets the job done.

· Alpharetta · Italian
Ippolito's Alpharetta keeps it simple and mostly keeps it fair — bottle prices stay under $50, the Italian reds are the right call for the cuisine, and the across-the-board by-the-glass program gives you flexibility. Skip the Meiomi, lean into the Italian side of the list, and you'll drink well enough for a weeknight dinner without any drama.

The Cape is doing something genuinely unexpected for Alpharetta — a South African-anchored wine list with fair markups and a by-the-glass program that lets you actually explore it. The red selection is thin and the list won't impress anyone looking for depth, but for a beach bar concept with 21 glass pours and Sancerre at $15, we'd send a friend here without hesitation.

Ocean & Acre isn't trying to be a wine destination, but the list punches above its weight for a suburban seafood spot — fair markups, a thoughtful glass program, and a few genuinely interesting picks tucked in alongside the crowd-pleasers. If you're eating seafood in Alpharetta and want a decent bottle without getting gouged, this is your place.

7 Acre BarnGrill isn't trying to be a wine destination, and that's fine — what it offers is a thoughtful-enough list with fair prices and enough variety to keep most tables happy. The Patz & Hall, Greenwing, and Trimbach picks show someone made real choices here rather than just calling a distributor rep. Send a friend if they want a decent glass with dinner in Milton; just don't send them expecting to discover something they've never seen before.

The Farmhouse isn't trying to be a wine destination — it's trying to serve a complete meal, and the five-wine pairing structure suggests they've thought hard about what that means. If you're drawn to Old World obscurities, ancient grape varieties, and dessert wine finishers, this program punches well above its size. Come for the tasting menu, treat the wine pairings as part of the experience, and don't expect to go rogue on the list.

Cabbagetown · Atlanta · New American/Southern
Carroll Street Cafe is the kind of place that earns its Wild Card badge not by having the most impressive list in Atlanta, but by doing something genuinely unexpected — running a thoughtful wine program inside a cozy neighborhood cafe in Cabbagetown. We don't have enough verified wine data to make specific bottle calls right now, but the bones are there. If you're in the neighborhood and want wine with your Shrimp and Grits without feeling like you're at a corporate restaurant, this is a solid bet — just go in ready to ask questions.
