Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Royalz is short — 12 labels — and leans hard on names you'd recognize from a gas station endcap. It reads less like a curated program and more like someone grabbed whatever was available at Costco the week they opened. For a Mediterranean lounge trying to set a mood, this list doesn't help.
The list is dominated by Josh Cellars across four varietals — Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Merlot, and Chardonnay — which tells you everything you need to know about the ambition level here. Carmel Road and Canyon Road round out the bargain-bin feel, and a lone Maison L'Envoyé Pinot Noir is the only bottle that hints at someone with slightly better taste making a decision. There's a Champagne bottle listed at $50 with no producer name attached, which is either a deliberate mystery or a data entry oversight — neither inspires confidence. No Old World presence, no regional expression tied to the Mediterranean food, no real depth to speak of.
Eleven of the twelve labels are poured by the glass, all at a flat $12, which sounds convenient until you realize most of these bottles retail for $10–$15. That markup lands on the steep side for what you're getting. Rotation appears nonexistent — this looks like a static list with no seasonal changes or featured pours.
The Bottom Line
Royalz is a lounge first and a wine destination never. The flat $12-a-glass pricing hides a list where most bottles cost less than a movie ticket at retail, and the Josh Cellars takeover makes it feel like no one is steering this ship. If you're here for the atmosphere, stick to cocktails — or order the Maison L'Envoyé and don't look too hard at anything else.

UP on the Roof may have a great view and a solid brunch menu, but the wine program isn't a reason to visit — it's barely a reason to look up from the cocktail list. If wine matters to you even a little, order something bubbly and move on; there's nothing here to chase.

· Alpharetta · Gastropub/Tavern
Taffer's Tavern Alpharetta isn't trying to impress wine people, and that's fine — it's a gastropub with a crowd-pleasing list built for guests who want a bottle they already know. If you're with a table full of Caymus fans, everyone goes home happy. If you're hoping for something interesting or fairly priced, the Greywacke is your best play and then let it go.

Secreto is putting in more effort than most kitchens in this zip code when it comes to wine — a structured list, real producers, and 14 glass pours tells you someone cares. The markups lean steep in places, especially on the sparkling side, but the Esmonin Pinot and Hartford Court Bordeaux Blanc represent genuine finds worth ordering. If you're in Alpharetta and want a solid bottle with dinner without driving to Atlanta, this gets the job done.

· Alpharetta · Italian
Ippolito's Alpharetta keeps it simple and mostly keeps it fair — bottle prices stay under $50, the Italian reds are the right call for the cuisine, and the across-the-board by-the-glass program gives you flexibility. Skip the Meiomi, lean into the Italian side of the list, and you'll drink well enough for a weeknight dinner without any drama.

The Cape is doing something genuinely unexpected for Alpharetta — a South African-anchored wine list with fair markups and a by-the-glass program that lets you actually explore it. The red selection is thin and the list won't impress anyone looking for depth, but for a beach bar concept with 21 glass pours and Sancerre at $15, we'd send a friend here without hesitation.

Ocean & Acre isn't trying to be a wine destination, but the list punches above its weight for a suburban seafood spot — fair markups, a thoughtful glass program, and a few genuinely interesting picks tucked in alongside the crowd-pleasers. If you're eating seafood in Alpharetta and want a decent bottle without getting gouged, this is your place.

Noosh Kitchen's wine list is competent, fairly priced, and built for the broadest possible audience — which means it won't thrill anyone looking for something interesting, but it won't embarrass you either. The markup is honest and the by-the-glass selection is generous. Go for the Chehalem Chardonnay or the Barone Fini, eat the food, and don't expect the list to do anything unexpected.

BEY's wine list is small, a little steep on markups, and light on variety — but the Ksara presence saves it from being just another afterthought wine list at a casual Mediterranean spot. If you're eating here, drink Lebanese: the Réserve du Couvent or the Blanc de Blancs will make the meal feel intentional in a way the Bonanza Cab simply won't.

Marietta Square · Marietta · Mediterranean/Greek/Middle Eastern
Kiosco Marietta Square punches above its weight class with a genuinely global, all-by-the-glass wine list at prices that won't ruin your evening. The markup is fair across the board, the selection has enough range to reward curious drinkers, and the Colonia Las Liebres Bonarda alone is reason enough to skip the cocktail. It's not a destination wine program, but it's a solid, honest list for a neighborhood spot — and that counts for a lot.
