Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Melting Pot Boca reads exactly like what it is: a corporate chain list dressed up with a captain's list flourish. That said, 115 selections is more than most fondue spots bother with, and the Thursday half-price program is genuinely hard to ignore. Come in expecting California Cab and crowd favorites, not discovery.
The list leans heavily California — Caymus and the broader Wagner Family lineup anchor the prestige end, which tells you the target customer is someone who orders Caymus because they recognize the label. There's a token nod to Germany via the Schmitt Söhne Riesling Spätlese, which is actually a smart inclusion given how well an off-dry Riesling handles cheese fondue. Beyond those touchpoints, the 'extensive wine list' language in the marketing is doing a lot of heavy lifting — expect domestic Cab and Chardonnay filling most of the slots. The captain's list with 100+ bottles sounds impressive until you realize you can't see it without asking.
Estimated 8 to 14 pours by the glass, which is a reasonable spread for a full dinner experience. On Wine Down Thursday, every glass gets half off — that's where the by-the-glass program actually becomes interesting. Rotation and specific labels aren't published, which is a miss for anyone trying to plan ahead.
Schmitt Söhne Riesling Spätlese 'Piesporter Michelsberg' 2010 — Unknown — order on a Thursday for maximum damage
This is the sleeper pick on the list. An off-dry German Riesling is custom-made for cheese fondue — the acidity cuts through the fat, the residual sugar plays against the salt. Most tables will walk right past it for the Caymus and that's their loss.
Schmitt Söhne Riesling Spätlese 'Piesporter Michelsberg' 2010
Nobody at a Melting Pot is ordering the German Riesling, which is exactly why you should. It's one of the few wines on this list that actually makes the food taste better.
Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon
Caymus is fine wine — no argument there — but it's marked up predictably high and you're eating fondue. A big California Cab doesn't need cheese and chocolate fighting it for attention. You're paying for the label, not the experience.
Schmitt Söhne Riesling Spätlese 'Piesporter Michelsberg' 2010 + Classic Cheese Fondue
Off-dry Riesling and a melted cheese pot is one of the more intuitive pairings on the planet — the wine's acidity keeps the richness in check and the slight sweetness plays off the funk of the cheese. Order both on a Thursday and it's a genuinely great meal.
Thursday — Wine Down Thursday: 50% off all bottles under $150 and all glasses of wine or bubbly, plus access to the captain's list with 100+ selections and additional deals.
🎲 The Bottom Line
The Melting Pot Boca isn't a wine destination, but Wine Down Thursday flips the math enough to make it worth the trip if you're already coming for the fondue. Go on a Thursday, order the Riesling, and ignore the Caymus upsell.

Dorsia's wine list is exactly what it wants to be — polished, crowd-pleasing, and priced for a room that's spending freely. If you're after discovery or value, you'll have to work for it; if you're here for the scene and a great steak, Caymus and a Super Tuscan have you covered.

Louie Bossi's isn't going to win any awards for wine curation, but that daily half-price bottle program is a legitimate reason to show up. Order an entrée, pick strategically, and you'll drink better than the list price would ever suggest.

Bluefin is a solid spot for sushi and Thai food, but the wine list is an afterthought — overpriced commodity wines with no connection to the cuisine they're supposed to accompany. If you're coming here, order a sake or a cocktail and save the wine night for somewhere that cares.

Maggiano's isn't where you go to discover wine — it's where you go to eat a mountain of pasta and not overthink the bottle. Come on a Tuesday, when half-price wine turns a steep list into a genuinely solid deal, and you'll leave happy.

La Ferme isn't a wine destination, but it's a genuinely solid French bistro wine program that respects the cuisine and doesn't gouge you for the privilege. If Tuesday's half-price bottle promotion is still running, it's one of the better midweek wine deals in Boca.

J. Alexander's Boca Raton is a reliable, no-drama wine stop that won't embarrass you on a business dinner or a first date — just go in knowing the markups are real and steer toward Jordan or Sonoma-Cutrer instead of the list's cheaper options. We'd send a friend here for the steak, not the wine discovery.
