Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Sonora Grill is clearly not the main event — the cocktail program and mezcal selection are doing the heavy lifting here. What you get on the wine side is a tight, familiar lineup of names you've seen at every casual spot from here to Phoenix. That said, the pricing is genuinely reasonable, which counts for something in a state where markups can get brutal.
The list leans hard on California workhorses — Kendall-Jackson, Meiomi, Josh Cellars — with a nod toward accessible crowd-pleasers rather than anything adventurous. There's no deep regional story being told, no Baja or Spanish exploration to complement the Mexican kitchen, which feels like a missed opportunity. Argentina and Spain are reportedly in the mix, but the specifics are thin. It's a list built for people who want wine without thinking about it, and there's nothing wrong with that — just don't come here expecting discovery.
You're looking at somewhere between four and eight by-the-glass options covering the basics: white, red, bubbly. The La Marca Prosecco split is a fun touch for solo drinkers or anyone who wants bubbles without committing to a full bottle. Rotation appears minimal — this looks like a set-it-and-forget-it pour program rather than anything seasonal or chef-driven.
Meiomi Pinot Noir — $10/glass
Retails for $20 a bottle, so at $10 a glass you're essentially paying retail — which, for a restaurant pour, is actually a decent deal. It's soft, fruit-forward, and handles the smoky char on carne asada better than you'd expect.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling
Nobody orders Riesling at a Mexican restaurant and that's a mistake. At $8 a glass, this off-dry Washington Riesling cuts through heat and acid-forward salsas in a way that Chardonnay simply cannot. Most people walk right past it.
Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay
At $9 a glass, you're paying nearly the retail price of the whole bottle. It's buttery, it's ubiquitous, and it doesn't do anything interesting next to the bold flavors coming out of this kitchen. Hard pass.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling + Fish Tacos
The Riesling's bright acidity and subtle sweetness play well against the crispy fish, citrus slaw, and any heat from the house salsa. It's the kind of pairing that makes you look smart without trying.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Sonora Grill isn't a wine destination, but the pricing is honest and the list handles its lane without embarrassing itself. Go for the tableside guac and the mezcal — but if you want wine, you won't be stuck.
South Ogden · Ogden · Mexican / Cantina
Cactus Grill is a solid spot for tacos, enchiladas, and a well-made margarita — the wine list is just along for the ride. If wine matters to you tonight, order the Cooper & Thief and move on; if it really matters to you, come back another night.

Timbermine earns its reputation as a reliable Ogden institution on the strength of its food and atmosphere — the wine list is just along for the ride. Come for the prime rib, order something red and Californian, and don't overthink it.

South Ogden / Riverdale Road Corridor · Ogden · Steakhouse
Ruby River's wine list is a utility player — it shows up, does what's needed for a steak dinner, and goes home. We wouldn't make the drive for the wine, but if you're already there for the prime rib, the Chateau Ste. Michelle will take care of you.

Downtown Ogden · Ogden · Fine Dining American/European-Influenced
If you think Utah wine is a punchline, this place is the correction — it's a small, serious list built around a real winemaking operation, and the value holds up. Send a curious friend here; tell them to order the La Crescent and not ask too many questions.

Mercantile isn't here to impress wine nerds, and it doesn't try to. What it offers is a genuinely low-stakes, fairly priced place to drink decent West Coast wines with a cheese board in hand — and in Ogden, that's worth something.

Ogden Beer Company is a genuinely fun riverfront spot — just order a Cougar Juice wheat and call it a day. The wine list exists, technically, but it's not trying to impress anyone and you shouldn't let it impress you.
