You're not walking into Sombra for the wine list β you're walking in for the tacos β but the wine menu doesn't embarrass itself either. It's short, recognizable, and priced to move. What it lacks in adventurousness, it makes up for with a Wine Wednesday deal that's genuinely hard to argue with.
The list reads like a greatest-hits album of grocery store staples: Meiomi Pinot Noir, 14 Hands Merlot, Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio, Kate Arnold Sauvignon Blanc. Producers skew California and Washington with a nod to Italian mass-market. There's no deep regional story being told here, no small producers, no surprises β just bottles people already know how to order. That said, at a made-from-scratch Mexican spot in a Jackson strip mall, keeping it accessible is a defensible call.
Eight or so pours cover the basics β a red, a white, a rosΓ©-adjacent, and the usual suspects by varietal. Prices appear to hover in the $8β$12 range, which is reasonable for the market. Rotation seems static rather than seasonal, so don't expect anything new on your third visit.
Meiomi Pinot Noir β $12/glass (est. ~$35/bottle)
On a Wednesday, this bottle gets cut in half, landing you a crowd-pleasing Pinot with real fruit weight for somewhere around $17β$18. That's a genuinely good deal for a wine that drinks well with the spiced proteins on Sombra's menu.
Kate Arnold Sauvignon Blanc
Most people at a Mexican restaurant default to a margarita or grab the Pinot Grigio on autopilot. The Kate Arnold Sauvignon Blanc is the smarter move β crisp, citrus-forward, and built to handle lime crema and chile heat better than anything else on this list.
Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio
It's fine, technically. But Ecco Domani is the wine equivalent of background music β inoffensive, forgettable, and not doing the food any favors. The Kate Arnold Sauvignon Blanc is right there and does the job better.
Kate Arnold Sauvignon Blanc + Shrimp Chicken Lime Crema Bowl
The Sauvignon Blanc's acidity cuts through the richness of the crema while the citrus notes echo the lime in the bowl. It's not a complicated pairing β it's just the right call.
Wednesday β Half off every bottle on the wine list every Wednesday. No fine print mentioned β just show up on a Wednesday.
π² The Bottom Line
Sombra's wine list isn't going to win any awards, but the Wine Wednesday half-price promotion turns an ordinary Tuesday-level list into a legitimately fun Wednesday-night move. Come for the tacos, stay for the deal.

Shapley's is the best wine list in the Jackson metro area by a comfortable margin β 180 labels with genuine ambition, even if the markups lean toward the steakhouse standard of 'you're paying for the room.' If you're eating prime beef in Mississippi and you care about what's in your glass, this is where you come.

Local 463 is the best wine list in Mississippi that most wine people don't know exists β genuinely surprising depth in a context that earns it the Wild Card badge with ease. Markups run steep on the prestige bottles, but the sheer ambition of this list in Ridgeland, Mississippi is worth celebrating.

The Pearl isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's doing more than most seafood spots in Jackson are willing to attempt. The list is small, honest, and generally well-matched to the kitchen β send a friend here for dinner and tell them to order the Eroica.

Fat Rosie's is a genuinely fun taco and tequila spot that has no business being reviewed for its wine β and that's kind of the point. If your table wants wine, order cocktails instead and save everyone the disappointment.
