Wednesday Half-Price Saves This Neighborhood Staple

The wine list at Amerigo Flowood isn't trying to impress you — and that's kind of the point. You're in a comfortable neighborhood Italian spot in Flowood, Mississippi, not a Manhattan enoteca. What you see is a familiar roster of approachable, recognizable names priced honestly enough that you won't feel robbed when the check comes.
The list leans heavily on crowd-pleasing American and Italian standards — Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio, Decoy Cab, La Crema Chard — the kind of wines your aunt orders with confidence at any chain Italian restaurant. There's a nod toward Italian identity with mentions of single-vineyard selections from Piedmont to Sicily, but don't expect a deep dive into Barolo or Etna Rosso territory. The gaps are real: no half-bottles, no serious old-world exploration, and the list reads more like a Greatest Hits compilation than a curated program. Still, for a mid-range neighborhood Italian in central Mississippi, it covers the bases without embarrassing itself.
By-the-glass options cover the predictable spectrum — bubbly (Ruffino Prosecco), white (Santa Margherita, La Crema, Joel Gott), and red (Decoy, Terrazas Malbec) — which is a reasonable spread for the format. Prices run $11–$16 per glass, landing in fair territory given retail comparisons. There's no real rotation or standout pour-by-the-glass program here, but what's on offer is drinkable and priced without greed.
Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc California 2023 — $12
Only a $3 bump over retail — the lowest markup on the list. It's not a revelatory Sauvignon Blanc, but it's crisp, clean, and honest, and at $12 a glass you can order two without doing math on your phone.
Terrazas de los Andes Reserva Malbec 2021
It's Argentine, not Italian, so it gets overlooked on a list like this — but Terrazas Reserva consistently punches above its price point with proper Mendoza structure. At $13 a glass with a 44% markup, it's one of the quieter wins on the menu.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Valdadige 2022
At $15 a glass, Santa Margherita carries its usual luxury tax — you're paying for the label more than what's in the glass. It's a perfectly fine wine that retails for $24, but the 62% glass markup makes it the least compelling value on the list. There are better uses for that $15.
La Crema Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2022 + Seafood pasta
La Crema's Sonoma Coast Chard brings enough acidity to cut through butter and cream without steamrolling delicate seafood. It's not a cerebral wine, but it does the job cleanly alongside Amerigo's fresh seafood pasta options — and at $14 a glass, it's the right call.
Wednesday — Half-priced bottles of house wine every Wednesday. House wines are also available at $8/glass during the Early Bird menu window. The half-price program applies to house selections only — don't expect the full list to be in play.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Amerigo Flowood is exactly what it is: a reliable neighborhood Italian with a wine list that won't challenge you but won't fleece you either. Show up on a Wednesday, grab a half-price house bottle, and let the lasagna do the heavy lifting.
The District at Eastover · Jackson · Mexican
Sombra's wine list isn't going to win any awards, but the Wine Wednesday half-price promotion turns an ordinary Tuesday-level list into a legitimately fun Wednesday-night move. Come for the tacos, stay for the deal.

Shapley's is the best wine list in the Jackson metro area by a comfortable margin — 180 labels with genuine ambition, even if the markups lean toward the steakhouse standard of 'you're paying for the room.' If you're eating prime beef in Mississippi and you care about what's in your glass, this is where you come.

Local 463 is the best wine list in Mississippi that most wine people don't know exists — genuinely surprising depth in a context that earns it the Wild Card badge with ease. Markups run steep on the prestige bottles, but the sheer ambition of this list in Ridgeland, Mississippi is worth celebrating.

Table 100 is a reliable neighborhood spot that happens to have wine on the menu — the program is functional, the happy hour is genuinely good, and the Sunday half-price nights in December are worth planning around. Just don't come here hunting for anything you haven't seen before.

The Pearl isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's doing more than most seafood spots in Jackson are willing to attempt. The list is small, honest, and generally well-matched to the kitchen — send a friend here for dinner and tell them to order the Eroica.
