You don't expect to open a wine list in a suburban Mississippi strip mall and find Cristom Louise Vineyard Pinot Noir and Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs from England sitting side by side. Local 463 swings hard β this is not a list assembled by someone who called their distributor rep and said 'give me the usual.' Someone here genuinely gives a damn.
120 labels covering serious Napa Cabernet (Plumpjack, Shafer ONE POINT FIVE, Cade Howell Mountain), Willamette Valley Pinot (Soter Mineral Springs, Cristom Louise), Champagne from houses most restaurants skip (Pertois-Moriset Grand Cru, Pierre Gimonnet Cuis 1er Cru), and genuinely nerdy whites like Massican Annia and Rafael Palacios Louro Godello. The Italian section steps up too β Tignanello, Grattamacco Bolgheri, Capanna Brunello Riserva, G.D. Vajra Ravera Barolo. Where it softens is in the mid-range: between the crowd-pleaser floor (Rombauer, Caymus, Whispering Angel) and the prestige ceiling, there's a gap where interesting $60β$90 bottles could live. Germany and Spain feel thin, and the Loire Valley teased in the region notes doesn't fully show up in the list.
Twenty-one options by the glass is genuinely generous, ranging from $9 to $23 and covering white, red, rosΓ©, and sparkling. The program skews toward approachable names at the lower end of the glass range β which serves the room β but we'd love to see a few of those weirder bottles (the Massican, the Godello) broken open for pours. Rotation isn't documented publicly, so what you get may depend on the night.
Monte Oton Spain 2019 β $24
At $24 a bottle, this Garnacha from Aragon is the list's stealth move β a food-friendly, low-ego red that won't make your wallet flinch. Everything else worth drinking starts at $55 and climbs fast, so this one deserves your attention.
Rafael Palacios Louro Godello Valdeorras 2019
Godello is one of Spain's great white grapes and Palacios is one of its best practitioners β mineral, textured, and nothing like the Chardonnay-Sauvignon Blanc loop most tables never escape. Almost no one orders it. That's their loss.
Staglin Family Vineyards Rutherford-Napa Chardonnay 2021
At $415 a bottle, this is the list's steepest ask on a white wine. Staglin makes beautiful wine, but this price point in a suburban bistro context β without the cellar program or wine director gravitas to justify it β is a hard sell. There are far better value plays on this same list.
Soter Mineral Springs Ranch Pinot Noir Yamhill-Carlton 2019 + Flank Steak
Soter's Mineral Springs has the structure to stand up to beef but the elegance to not steamroll the Southern seasoning on that flank steak. It's the move when you want to feel like you made a smart call without overthinking it.
π² The Bottom Line
Local 463 is the best wine list in Mississippi that most wine people don't know exists β genuinely surprising depth in a context that earns it the Wild Card badge with ease. Markups run steep on the prestige bottles, but the sheer ambition of this list in Ridgeland, Mississippi is worth celebrating.
The District at Eastover Β· Jackson Β· Mexican
Sombra's wine list isn't going to win any awards, but the Wine Wednesday half-price promotion turns an ordinary Tuesday-level list into a legitimately fun Wednesday-night move. Come for the tacos, stay for the deal.

Amerigo Flowood is exactly what it is: a reliable neighborhood Italian with a wine list that won't challenge you but won't fleece you either. Show up on a Wednesday, grab a half-price house bottle, and let the lasagna do the heavy lifting.

Ridgeland Β· Jackson Β· Classic upscale steakhouse
Shapley's is the best wine list in the Jackson metro area by a comfortable margin β 180 labels with genuine ambition, even if the markups lean toward the steakhouse standard of 'you're paying for the room.' If you're eating prime beef in Mississippi and you care about what's in your glass, this is where you come.

Table 100 is a reliable neighborhood spot that happens to have wine on the menu β the program is functional, the happy hour is genuinely good, and the Sunday half-price nights in December are worth planning around. Just don't come here hunting for anything you haven't seen before.

The Pearl isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's doing more than most seafood spots in Jackson are willing to attempt. The list is small, honest, and generally well-matched to the kitchen β send a friend here for dinner and tell them to order the Eroica.
