The wine list at Kathryn's is a greatest hits compilation of California Cabernet — the kind of list that nods approvingly at itself in the mirror. It's predictable, but it's not pretending to be anything else, and for a casual Jackson-area steakhouse, that's at least honest.
The list leans hard into Napa and Sonoma, with Pacific Northwest rounding things out. You'll find the usual suspects — Caymus, Jordan, Silver Oak, Stag's Leap — which reads more like a steakhouse wine checklist than a curated selection. There's no Old World representation to speak of, and if you're hunting for anything off the beaten path, you won't find it here. The range tops out around $120 a bottle, which keeps things accessible but also signals that depth isn't really the point.
By-the-glass options clock in somewhere between 8 and 14 pours, which is a workable spread for a steakhouse crowd. Don't expect rotating selections or seasonal surprises — this is a set-it-and-forget-it program that probably hasn't changed much in years. The glass pour prices ($10–$18) are reasonable enough, but you're paying for familiarity, not discovery.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon — $45
If you can catch Jordan at the lower end of the bottle range, it's genuinely one of the better QPR Sonoma Cabs on the market — structured, food-friendly, and doesn't require you to take out a second mortgage like some of its neighbors on this list.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon
Most people at a casual steakhouse reach for Caymus out of habit, but the Artemis is the sleeper here — more elegance, more Napa terroir character, and it actually rewards a little attention rather than just delivering a fruit bomb. Worth the ask.
Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon
Caymus has become the house wine of steakhouses nationwide, and Kathryn's marks it up accordingly. You're paying a premium for brand recognition at this point — the wine is fine, but you can drink better for less money just by moving two spots down the list.
Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon + Hand-cut steak
Silver Oak Alexander Valley runs a little softer and more approachable than its Napa counterpart — which actually makes it a smart call against a hand-cut steak. The fruit-forward profile and fine tannins complement the char without steamrolling the meat.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Kathryn's wine list is the culinary equivalent of a classic rock radio station — you know every song, there are no bad choices, but you're not going to discover anything new. Send a friend here if they want a reliable Napa Cab with their ribeye and zero decision fatigue.

Sombra's wine list isn't going to win any awards, but the Wine Wednesday half-price promotion turns an ordinary Tuesday-level list into a legitimately fun Wednesday-night move. Come for the tacos, stay for the deal.

Shapley's is the best wine list in the Jackson metro area by a comfortable margin — 180 labels with genuine ambition, even if the markups lean toward the steakhouse standard of 'you're paying for the room.' If you're eating prime beef in Mississippi and you care about what's in your glass, this is where you come.

Local 463 is the best wine list in Mississippi that most wine people don't know exists — genuinely surprising depth in a context that earns it the Wild Card badge with ease. Markups run steep on the prestige bottles, but the sheer ambition of this list in Ridgeland, Mississippi is worth celebrating.

Table 100 is a reliable neighborhood spot that happens to have wine on the menu — the program is functional, the happy hour is genuinely good, and the Sunday half-price nights in December are worth planning around. Just don't come here hunting for anything you haven't seen before.

The Pearl isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's doing more than most seafood spots in Jackson are willing to attempt. The list is small, honest, and generally well-matched to the kitchen — send a friend here for dinner and tell them to order the Eroica.
