Walking into SeaBlue, you don't expect a 400-bottle list with 13,000 bottles in the cellar — not on Highway 17 in North Myrtle Beach. But there it is, and it's serious. Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence doesn't land in your lap; someone here worked for this.
The list leans hard into California and France, which makes sense given the clientele, but there's real depth here — not just the greatest hits. You'll find Shafer Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon from Stags Leap District sitting alongside a 2009 La Tâche from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, which is the kind of range that keeps serious drinkers engaged for the whole dinner. Italy makes an appearance too, rounding out the Old World presence. The top end goes all the way to $11,000, but there's enough action in the $40–$120 range to keep this from feeling like a trophy case.
By-the-glass details aren't widely published, which is a mild frustration for anyone who wants to explore without committing to a bottle. What we do know is that house pours start around $7, which at a place this caliber suggests the glass program skews toward entry-level while the real wine lives in the bottle list. 2009 Lail Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley — Ask your server
Lail is a small, serious Napa producer better known for their Cabernet program — which means their Sauvignon Blanc often flies under the radar and gets priced more reasonably than it deserves. At a steak-and-seafood spot, this is your move before the main event.
2007 Alexandria Nicole Cabernet Franc, Washington State
Washington Cab Franc rarely gets the attention it deserves, and a 2007 with some age on it is genuinely exciting. Most tables will default to the Napa Cabernet Sauvignon options — let them. This is the one to order.
House Wine (generic by-the-glass)
At $7 a glass, the math on the house pour works out to a 425% markup on what is almost certainly a forgettable entry-level bottle. With a list this deep, there is no reason to default to the house. Spend $15 more and drink something that actually belongs in this room.
2008 Shafer Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon, Stags Leap District + Dry-aged USDA Prime Steak
Hillside Select is one of Napa's benchmark Cabs — structured, concentrated, built for exactly this moment. A dry-aged prime cut has the fat and intensity to stand up to it without either one blinking. This is the pairing the list was built around.
The Bottom Line
SeaBlue is a genuine wine destination wearing beach-town clothes — the depth of the cellar and the quality of the staff would hold up anywhere. Markups keep it from perfection, but if you're eating prime steak on the Grand Strand and you care about what's in your glass, there's nowhere else to go.
