Castello di Amorosa is unabashedly a destination experience, and the wine list reflects that: captive audience, estate-only pours, pricing that leans on the setting as much as the wine. But the Italian-varietal focus is genuinely interesting, the courtyard is a legitimately great place to drink, and if you're already on Highway 29, there are worse ways to spend an afternoon.

TRUSS is a resort wine list that actually tries, and in this category that's rarer than it sounds — the Coravin program alone is worth the visit if you care about drinking icons by the ounce. The markups are real and the bill will remind you where you are, but the depth and curation earn it a pass.

TRUSS is a world-class trophy list wrapped in resort pricing — if someone else is paying, it's a bucket-list experience. If you're paying your own tab, go in with a plan, target the Champagne deep cuts, and don't touch the Veuve.

Auro is the kind of wine list that justifies the Four Seasons room rate all on its own — stratospheric in ceiling, surprisingly thoughtful in its range, and staffed by people who clearly know what they're looking at. The markups are real and the prices are not for the faint of wallet, but if you're going to drop serious money on wine anywhere in Napa Valley, this list at least earns the ask.

Picayune Cellars is the kind of place that rewards curiosity — a tight, producer-focused list with fair prices, real depth in the library, and a vibe that doesn't take itself too seriously for a Napa Valley address. If you're in Calistoga and want to actually drink well without getting gouged, this is your stop.
