You pull up to a 13th-century Tuscan castle in the middle of Napa Valley — yes, it's theatrical, yes it's a bit much, and yes, we kind of love it. The courtyard is genuinely lovely, and once you get past the Disney-castle energy, the wine list reveals something worth paying attention to: a tightly focused all-estate lineup that leans hard into Italian varieties you won't find at most Napa tasting rooms. This is not a list trying to be everything to everyone, and that restraint earns some respect.
Every bottle on the list is a Castello di Amorosa estate wine, which is either a feature or a bug depending on your perspective — we'd call it a feature. The range runs from easy-drinking whites like the Pinot Grigio and Pinot Bianco through a Rosato di Sangiovese and up to serious reds including the La Castellana Reserve Super Tuscan Blend and the Il Barone Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. The Italian-varietal focus is genuinely unusual for Napa, and the winery's commitment to Tuscan-style winemaking gives the list a coherence most tasting rooms lack. A Super Tuscan blend — Sangiovese-forward, structured, with some Cab muscle — is exactly what you want against a board of cured meats and aged cheese. The wine's savory backbone cuts through fat, and the whole thing feels appropriately Italian without trying too hard.

Castello di Amorosa is unabashedly a destination experience, and the wine list reflects that: captive audience, estate-only pours, pricing that leans on the setting as much as the wine. But the Italian-varietal focus is genuinely interesting, the courtyard is a legitimately great place to drink, and if you're already on Highway 29, there are worse ways to spend an afternoon.
