Wingman Metrics
The setting does a lot of the heavy lifting here — a resort terrace at Alila Napa Valley with vineyard views is hard to argue with. The wine list arrives looking polished, and it is, though 'polished' and 'adventurous' are not the same thing. Sixty to a hundred bottles in Napa Valley is table stakes, and this list knows it.
The list leans into its geography, anchoring around Napa Valley and broader California with a few French imports sprinkled in to signal worldliness. You're not going to find a deep Jura rabbit hole or a nerdy Canary Islands pick — this is resort wine country, and the selections reflect a menu built to satisfy rather than challenge. The French presence, represented by Domaine Triennes, is a reasonable nod to the Old World without going too far off-script. Gaps exist in anything truly esoteric, but for a hotel bar pulling a mixed crowd of tourists and locals, the range does its job.
The glass program is the most interesting part of this list, with 10 to 18 pours including two legitimate California sparkling standouts. Domaine Carneros Ultra Brut 2022 and Schramsberg both show up by the glass, which is a genuinely good call for a terrace setting on a warm Napa evening. Rotation appears limited — this reads more like a fixed program than something evolving with the season.

Domaine Carneros by the glass on a vineyard terrace is the move. Ultra Brut style means less dosage, more precision — it punches above its price point in this context and beats ordering a basic Chardonnay by a wide margin.
Domaine Triennes
Most people at a Napa resort aren't reaching for a French bottle, which means Domaine Triennes gets slept on. It's a solid Provence-area producer and a genuine alternative to the California-heavy rest of the list — worth the order if you want something that isn't competing with the ZIP code.
Schramsberg (by the glass)
Schramsberg is a great producer, but at resort markup by the glass, you're paying a significant premium for a bottle you could take home from a tasting room for considerably less. Save Schramsberg for when you can order the full bottle and actually taste what you're paying for.
Domaine Carneros Ultra Brut, California 2022 + Terrace small plates
An extra-brut sparkling wine is one of the most food-flexible pours on any list. The low dosage and bright acidity cut through anything salty or rich on the terrace menu without overwhelming lighter bites — it's the default right answer for grazing your way through a Napa afternoon.

Salvia Terrace won't rewrite your understanding of wine, but it'll pour you something decent while the sun sets over the valley, and that's a fair trade. Go for the sparkling by the glass, enjoy the view, and don't overthink it.
