Wine Down Wednesday Can't Save This List

Wingman Metrics
The list reads like someone grabbed the most recognizable labels off a grocery store shelf and tripled the price. Kim Crawford, Meiomi, Joel Gott — these are fine wines, but they're airport wines, and Radish is charging like they're rare finds. The intimate, reservation-driven room deserves better.
The regional focus leans California and Pacific Northwest, which is a defensible choice for a coastal Southern spot, but the execution is all commercial safe bets with zero personality. There's a Champagne section that skews aspirational — Bollinger, Ruinart, Veuve — though the markups are hard to stomach. What's missing is anything from the South, any small producers, or any bottle that would make you lean across the table and say 'you have to try this.' The list plays it as safe as it gets.
Glass pour details aren't published, but the $8 glass promotion on Wine Down Wednesdays suggests the by-the-glass program leans toward house-level pours rather than anything worth seeking out. Without a rotating or curated glass program, this feels like an afterthought rather than a feature.
Duckhorn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 — $120
It's still a 50% markup over retail, but at least you're getting a legitimately well-made wine. Duckhorn Cab is reliable, food-friendly, and the best argument on this list for actually spending money on a bottle.
Bollinger Special Cuvée NV
At $120 it's the closest thing to a fair deal in the Champagne section — only 60% over retail compared to the Cakebread Chardonnay's 73% gouge. Bollinger also punches well above the Veuve and Ruinart in terms of depth and biscuity complexity. If you're celebrating, this is the move.
Meiomi Pinot Noir California 2021
Forty-five dollars for a bottle you can grab at Walgreens for $18. That's a 150% markup on a wine that's pleasant at best and ubiquitous at worst. Hard pass.
Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Napa Valley 2020 + Tomato Tartare
Cakebread Chard is oaky and rich, which actually works against most food — but the acidity in the tomato tartare cuts through the butter and brings the wine's fruit forward. It's one of the few combos on this list where the pairing logic holds up. Just know you're paying $95 for a $55 bottle.
Wednesday — Wine Down Wednesday: all bottles half-price and all glasses $8, starting at 3 PM.
❌ The Bottom Line
Radish has a charming room and a kitchen that sounds like it's doing real work, but the wine list is a collection of familiar labels with unfamiliar markups. Wednesday's half-price deal is genuinely the only reason to order a bottle here — plan around it or stick to cocktails.
Downtown Gulfport · Gulfport · Steakhouse
The Rack House wine list is exactly what a Gulf Coast steakhouse should be — unpretentious, fairly priced, and wide enough by the glass that you don't feel cornered. We'd send a friend here without hesitation, just with the note to skip the Moscato and go straight for the Ste. Michelle.

Island View Casino · Gulfport · Bar
This is not a destination for wine drinkers — it's a slot machine bar that happens to stock one bubbly. Come for the Sunday bottle deal at Carter Green Steakhouse next door, not for anything happening at the bar itself.

Island View Casino · Gulfport · Seafood / Raw Bar
The food concept is solid, but the wine program is an afterthought in a place that should know better — oysters are practically begging for a decent Muscadet or even a crisp rosé, and the kitchen deserves backup. Come for the shellfish, drink the bubbles on Sunday, and lower your expectations below sea level.

I-10 / Highway 49 Corridor · Gulfport · Hotel Restaurant / American
This is not a wine destination — it's a place to sleep near the highway that happens to have wine on the menu because it's legally a full-service hotel. Order a beer, or head somewhere else entirely.

Biloxi Beachfront · Gulfport · American
This is a wine list for people who need wine with dinner and aren't interested in making it a thing — and it delivers exactly that without embarrassing anyone. If wine is important to your night, eat somewhere else; if you just want a glass of something recognizable while you watch the Gulf, you'll be fine.

Gulfport Beachfront / Highway 90 · Gulfport · Hotel Bistro
This is a wine list that exists because the hotel is required to have one. If you're sleeping here, grab a glass of the Clean Slate Riesling and call it a night — but don't make a trip to the Courtyard Bistro for the wine program.
