Wingman Metrics
The list at Patio 44 arrives looking ambitious — over 100 wines is no joke for a coastal Mississippi spot more known for its patio vibe and bourbon shelf. Flip through it and you'll recognize most of the names immediately, which is either comforting or a little predictable depending on your mood.
The bulk of this list reads like a greatest hits of American grocery-store darlings: Kim Crawford, Meiomi, Apothic, 19 Crimes, Josh Legacy. That said, there are genuinely interesting detours — The Prisoner, Paraduxx, and 8 Years in the Desert show someone actually cared enough to venture beyond the safe zone. The Champagne section punches above its weight with Veuve Clicquot and Moët alongside Chandon, which is a nice touch for the Gulf Coast brunch-and-celebration crowd. Oregon representation via Elk Cove and Anne Amie adds a quiet layer of credibility that most casual diners will walk right past.
The by-the-glass program runs 12-18 options, which is generous for this market. Prices land in the $8-$20 range and the selection rotates through the familiar anchors — Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir — without many surprises. What's here works, but don't expect anything off the beaten path to show up in the glass pour lineup.
Anne Amie Pinot Gris — $35
At roughly 94% over retail, this is the least-gouged bottle on the list and one of the most food-friendly pours in the building. Anne Amie makes a genuinely expressive Willamette Valley Pinot Gris — think stone fruit and texture — and next to Gulf seafood, it sings.
Elk Cove Pinot Gris
Most tables here are ordering Kim Crawford on autopilot and missing this entirely. Elk Cove is a serious Oregon producer with decades of Pinot Gris pedigree, and this bottle sits quietly on the list waiting for someone to notice it. That someone should be you.
La Marca Prosecco
At $34 a bottle for something that retails at $13, you're paying a 161% markup on a wine you can grab at any gas station in a nicer state. Pop for the Chandon or step up to the Moët if you're celebrating — at least the math feels less insulting.
Kung Fu Girl Riesling + Shrimp & Grits
The off-dry character of Kung Fu Girl cuts right through the richness of a Creole-spiced shrimp and grits without competing with the heat. It's a classic acid-fat-spice triangle, and at $30 a bottle it's the move if you're going Southern comfort on the menu.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Patio 44 isn't going to blow a wine nerd's mind, but it's a genuinely solid option for a Gulf Coast dinner where you want something decent in the glass without having to work too hard. Just watch the markups and steer toward Oregon when the menu lets you.
Downtown Gulfport · Gulfport · Steakhouse
The Rack House wine list is exactly what a Gulf Coast steakhouse should be — unpretentious, fairly priced, and wide enough by the glass that you don't feel cornered. We'd send a friend here without hesitation, just with the note to skip the Moscato and go straight for the Ste. Michelle.

Island View Casino · Gulfport · Bar
This is not a destination for wine drinkers — it's a slot machine bar that happens to stock one bubbly. Come for the Sunday bottle deal at Carter Green Steakhouse next door, not for anything happening at the bar itself.

Island View Casino · Gulfport · Seafood / Raw Bar
The food concept is solid, but the wine program is an afterthought in a place that should know better — oysters are practically begging for a decent Muscadet or even a crisp rosé, and the kitchen deserves backup. Come for the shellfish, drink the bubbles on Sunday, and lower your expectations below sea level.

I-10 / Highway 49 Corridor · Gulfport · Hotel Restaurant / American
This is not a wine destination — it's a place to sleep near the highway that happens to have wine on the menu because it's legally a full-service hotel. Order a beer, or head somewhere else entirely.

This is a wine list for people who need wine with dinner and aren't interested in making it a thing — and it delivers exactly that without embarrassing anyone. If wine is important to your night, eat somewhere else; if you just want a glass of something recognizable while you watch the Gulf, you'll be fine.

This is a wine list that exists because the hotel is required to have one. If you're sleeping here, grab a glass of the Clean Slate Riesling and call it a night — but don't make a trip to the Courtyard Bistro for the wine program.
