Wingman Metrics
You're sitting in a strip-center Thai spot near the Y, menus laminated, portions enormous — and then you notice Silver Oak, Heitz Trailside, and Dom Pérignon on the wine list. It's genuinely disorienting. This is not the wine list you expect to find next to a bowl of drunken noodles.
The 28-label list leans hard into California Cabernet, which is a bold swing for a Thai restaurant where the food skews spicy and herbal. You've got Silver Oak in both Alexander Valley and Napa expressions, Heitz Cellar Trailside 2016, Trefethen, Arrowood, and Freemark Abbey — a respectable Napa lineup by any measure. The outlier that deserves attention is the Santadi Carignano del Sulcis, a Sardinian red that actually makes sense here. What's missing: aromatic whites, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, anything off-dry — the obvious partners for Thai heat. The list is almost aggressively California-centric in a way that ignores how the food drinks.
Nine by-the-glass options at $8–$10 is genuinely affordable for a Tahoe restaurant, and the price point is one of the list's clearest wins. The selections skew toward crowd-pleasing California standards — nothing that's going to push you out of your comfort zone, but nothing embarrassing either. Don't expect weekly rotation; this is a set-it-and-forget-it program.
Kendall Jackson Cabernet Sauvignon — $32
At $32 a bottle for a weeknight Thai dinner in a Tahoe strip mall, this is the move if you want something to share without overthinking it. It's not exciting, but it's honest and the price is right.
Santadi Carignano del Sulcis
This Sardinian red — earthy, savory, with enough fruit to hold up to bold flavors — is the one bottle on this list that actually makes sense with the food. Most people walk right past it for the Napa Cabs. Don't be most people.
Dom Perignon Vintage 2012
At $359 on a list without retail comps published, you're paying serious Champagne money in a room with plastic menus and fluorescent lighting. It's not that Dom doesn't deserve respect — it's that this is not the occasion. Save it.
Santadi Carignano del Sulcis + Drunken Noodles
The Carignano's rustic, spice-friendly character doesn't fight the chili heat and basil in the drunken noodles the way a big Napa Cab would. It's earthy enough to complement the dish without getting steamrolled by it.
🎲 The Bottom Line
My Thai is a genuine Wild Card — a family Thai joint that somehow assembled a Napa Cab-heavy wine list with real bottles on it, even if the pairing logic is questionable and the markups climb fast. Come for the green curry, order the Santadi, and marvel at the fact that Heitz Trailside exists on this menu at all.

The Cork & More is the kind of place that shouldn't work as well as it does — a wine shop and deli hybrid in a tourist ski town charging near-retail prices. We'd absolutely send a friend here, especially one who's been burned by $80 Napa Cabs at resort restaurants one too many times.

Maggie's isn't going to make a wine person drive up from the Bay Area, but for a ski-base hotel restaurant it punches well above its weight — fair markups, considered pours, and a list that treats guests like adults. If you're already at Heavenly Village, you're in good hands.

Jimmy's is a dependable resort wine list with some genuine bright spots — just don't expect adventurous pricing or a staff member who can walk you through the Ornellaia. If you're in South Lake Tahoe and want a proper glass of something good with a fire crackling and the lake out the window, you could do a lot worse.

Evan's is the right place for a proper Tahoe date night, and the wine list won't let you down — as long as you go in knowing it's built for comfort, not discovery. Stick to the Kistler or Flowers and you'll drink well; chase the obvious names and you'll overpay for the privilege.

We wouldn't send a friend to TaCo. Cantina for the wine list — but we'd tell them to order the Casa Magoni Chardonnay while they work through a plate of birria tacos and figure out which mezcal to order next. That's the move here.

Zoo Thai has no business having a wine list this interesting, and that's meant as a compliment. If you're eating Thai in Missoula and you care at all about what's in your glass, this is the move.

Sumittra serves solid Thai food in a welcoming downtown space, but the wine list is a missed opportunity — overpriced supermarket brands with no connection to the cuisine. Order a Thai iced tea and save the wine budget for somewhere that earned it.

Thai by Thai isn't here to impress a wine crowd, and that's completely fine — at $7 a glass and $27 a bottle, this is a no-stress, just-drink-something spot where the food is the reason you came anyway. Order the Kung Fu Girl Riesling, get the Drunken Noodle, and stop overthinking it.
