Luna Blu's wine list feels like it was built by someone who actually eats Italian food — which, at a cozy neighborhood trattoria on West Street, is exactly what you want. It's not trying to be a wine bar, but it's not phoning it in either. The Italian-forward focus is tight and purposeful.
The list runs 40 to 70 bottles with a clear Italian spine: Tuscany, Sicily, Southern Italy, and a nod toward Greece keep things interesting without getting precious. Chianti Classico and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo anchor the reds, while Vermentino and Pinot Grigio handle white-wine duties with some regional integrity. There's no deep cellar here and no obscure cult producers, but the selections align with the food in a way that suggests someone made deliberate choices. The Greek additions are a small but smart move that most comparable Italian spots in Annapolis wouldn't bother with.
Eight to twelve options by the glass is a respectable spread for a room this size. The pours skew predictable — expect the Pinot Grigio and Chianti Classico to carry the load — but having Vermentino available by the glass would be a genuine win if it's on there. Rotation appears minimal; don't count on this list changing with the seasons.
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo — $38
Montepulciano punches well above its price point almost everywhere, and here it's priced to drink rather than to impress. It's the kind of bottle that makes a pasta night feel like a real decision.
Vermentino
Most tables here will default to Pinot Grigio without a second thought, but the Vermentino is the smarter pour — more texture, a saline edge, and it handles the seafood dishes on this menu better than anything else on the list.
Pinot Grigio (Santa Margherita or similar)
Santa Margherita is a fine wine, but it's also the most marked-up Pinot Grigio in the game — you're paying for the bottle shape more than what's inside it. There are better options on this same list for less.
Primitivo + Pasta special with braised meat or ragù
Primitivo's dark fruit and low-key rusticity are built for slow-cooked meat sauces. When the pasta specials run toward something braised or ragù-based, this is the automatic call.

Luna Blu isn't a destination wine list, but it's an honest one — Italian-focused, fairly priced, and well-matched to the food coming out of the kitchen. Send a friend here and tell them to skip the Santa Margherita.

Davis' Pub is a great place to drink — just not wine. The list is inoffensive and priced fairly, but it exists as an afterthought in a place where the real action is cold drafts and steamed crabs. Order the Brancott if you must, then pivot to beer.
