Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Bellanico stops you cold — not because it's long, but because it's doing something almost no one else does. This is a dessert and fortified wine program, full stop, and it's executed with more intention than most full lists twice its size. Five bottles, four glass pours, and zero filler.
What Bellanico has assembled here is essentially a love letter to the Italian after-dinner tradition. You've got Felsina's Vin Santo from Chianti Classico — a serious producer making a serious wine — alongside Paolo Saracco's Moscato d'Asti, which is as good a benchmark as exists for that style. The vermouth selections are genuinely interesting: a Cocchi Amaro Dopo Teatro and a Winestillery Tuscan Red Vermouth that lean more wine bar than cocktail lounge. Graham's 20 Year Tawny rounds it out with a nod beyond Italy. Is it a complete wine program? No. Is it a coherent, confident one? Absolutely.
All four glass pours are dessert or fortified wines, ranging from $12 to $16 — which is honest pricing for what's in the glass. The Cocchi Amaro at $14 and the Felsina Vin Santo at $16 are the standouts; the Winestillery Tuscan Red Vermouth at $12 is the entry point for the curious. Don't walk in expecting a Barolo by the glass — this list knows what it is.
Winestillery Tuscan Red Vermouth — $12/glass
At $12, this is the most affordable way to get a taste of something genuinely interesting. Tuscan Red Vermouth is a category most people have never explored, and Bellanico is putting it in front of you at a price that makes it an easy yes.
Felsina Vin Santo Chianti Classico 2014
Felsina is one of the great names in Chianti Classico, and their Vin Santo is the real deal — aged, complex, and nothing like the cloying sticky wines most people picture when they hear 'dessert wine.' At $16 a glass, most tables will skip it. They shouldn't.
Graham's 20 Year Old Tawny Port
Graham's is a fine Port house, and the 20 Year Tawny is a reliable pour — but it's also the most predictable thing on this list and the easiest to find at any wine bar in any city. With Felsina and Cocchi on the menu, there's no reason to default to the safe pick.
Paolo Saracco Moscato d'Asti 2021 + Panna cotta
Saracco's Moscato is low-alcohol, lightly fizzy, and fragrant without being sweet in a cloying way — it lifts creamy desserts rather than competing with them. Panna cotta is the natural landing spot.
The Bottom Line
Bellanico isn't trying to be a wine destination — it's trying to be the best possible ending to a meal, and the wine list reflects exactly that. If you're into the Italian after-dinner tradition, this list is a small treasure worth seeking out.
