Wingman Metrics
The wine list at J Michael's Prime reads exactly like you'd expect from a suburban steakhouse — Cakebread, Santa Margherita, Veuve Clicquot — the greatest hits, all present and accounted for. It's not a bad list, but there's very little here that will surprise you. What does stand out is the sheer number of by-the-glass options: 53 pours across 61 labels, which is an unusual ratio that suggests they're leaning hard into the glass program.
The list covers the bases — a sparkling section anchored by La Marca and a .375ml Veuve (cute, but a bit of a cop-out), some rosé options including the reliable Peyrassol La Croix, and whites led by familiar names like Cakebread and Santa Margherita. There's a lone Sancerre from Jean Reverdy et Fils that gestures toward the Old World, and the Illahe Vineyards Viognier from Oregon shows someone made at least one interesting call. The red side of the list trails off fast — only The Seeker Pinot Noir appears in our sourced data, which for a steakhouse is a glaring gap. If you came here for a serious Cabernet or a Bordeaux to go with your ribeye, the list may leave you underwhelmed.
Fifty-three by-the-glass options sounds impressive until you realize the list itself is only 61 bottles — meaning almost everything pours by the glass, which isn't necessarily a badge of honor. Glass prices range from $6 for the Prince de Richemont Blanc de Blancs up to $27 for Cakebread Chardonnay, with most options clustering in the $10–$17 range. It's functional and flexible, but there's no obvious sign of rotation or curation beyond what's already on the bottle list.
The Bottom Line
J Michael's Prime is a dependable steakhouse wine list that covers the crowd-pleaser bases without doing much to earn your curiosity. The by-the-glass program is wide enough to find something decent at dinner, and the Prince de Richemont Blanc de Blancs at $6/glass is genuinely hard to argue with as a starter. If you're in Canton and want wine with your steak, you won't go thirsty — just don't expect to be surprised.

The Barrel Room on Canal isn't trying to be a destination wine program and it doesn't pretend otherwise — short list, honest prices, no fuss. If you want to share a $28 Malbec without sticker shock, this is your spot.

Carrabba's Canton isn't a wine destination and doesn't pretend to be — four reds and a seasonal dinner don't make a wine program. Order the cocktail, or BYOB if they allow it.

The Crush House is the best wine program in Canton by default, but it earns the title on its own merits too — fair prices, proper storage, and estate wines with a genuine sense of place. If you're within driving distance and haven't taken Ohio wine seriously yet, this is the place to start.

CHR Steak is doing what a steakhouse in Gainesville, Georgia should do: keeping the focus on American Cabs, pricing fairly, and giving guests enough by-the-glass variety to make a whole dinner interesting without forcing a bottle commitment. It's not a wine destination, but if you're sitting down to a steak here, you won't be stuck drinking something bad or paying through the nose for it — and that's a bar more places should clear.

The Butcher and Bottle isn't trying to be a wine destination — it's a steakhouse with a sensible, well-priced list that keeps things moving. The near-total by-the-glass program is genuinely smart, and the pricing is fairer than most places in this category. If you want adventure, look elsewhere; if you want a reliable Cab with your ribeye at a price that won't ruin the evening, this works.

Connors is a reliable steakhouse wine list that does its job without embarrassing itself or dazzling anyone. The by-the-glass count is a genuine bright spot, markups are steep but consistent with the category, and the selection covers the bases its clientele expects. Send a friend here if they want a solid glass of California Cab with their ribeye — just don't send them expecting anything they haven't already seen.
