Wingman Metrics
The wine list at TD's Tailgate exists because someone decided it had to. Seven options, all of them names you'd recognize from a grocery store endcap, priced at $9 a glass in a room where the real agenda is the game on the nearest of seventeen televisions. Nobody's coming here for the Pinot Grigio and that's fine — but it does set expectations clearly.
All seven wines are national supermarket staples: Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay and Cab, Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, Benvolio Pinot Grigio, Meiomi Pinot Noir, 14 Hands Merlot, and some unnamed Champagne splits. There's zero regional adventure here — California and a couple of international crowd-pleasers, full stop. The list hasn't been designed so much as assembled from a distributor's easy-yes sheet. To be fair, it covers the bases: white, red, bubbly, one non-California option per color — but calling this a wine program is generous.
All seven wines are by the glass, which technically makes this a by-the-glass-only operation since bottle availability and pricing aren't confirmed. At $9 a pour, you're paying mid-range restaurant prices for entry-level brands — not a steal, not a total gouge, but not a great deal either. Rotation appears to be nonexistent; this list looks like it hasn't changed since the spring 2021 menu.
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc — $9/glass
If you have to pick one, this is it. Kim Crawford is reliable, crisp, and actually drinks well for what it is — and at a sports bar, 'reliable and crisp' is about as good as it gets.
14 Hands Merlot
Nobody orders Merlot at a sports bar in 2024, which means it's probably sitting in decent condition. Washington State Merlot tends to be softer and more food-friendly than California reds, and 14 Hands is a step above the KJ Cab if you're going red.
Champagne splits
Unnamed producer, mystery provenance, served in a sports bar. Champagne splits at a tailgate bar are almost always low-end non-vintage stuff dressed up in a fancy category name. At $9 a pour equivalent, you're paying Champagne prices for something that probably isn't worth it — grab the Kim Crawford instead.
Meiomi Pinot Noir + Burgers or BBQ from the grill menu
Meiomi is soft, fruity, and low on tannin — it's not a serious Pinot Noir, but that actually works in its favor here. The ripe berry character holds up against smoky, saucy bar food without fighting it. If you're eating red meat at TD's, this is the move.
❌ The Bottom Line
TD's Tailgate is a sports bar that happens to have wine — not a wine destination that happens to show games. If your group orders wine here, you'll survive, but order the beer or a cocktail and put your energy into the game.
Gervasi / East Canton edge · Canton · Modern American and Italian-inspired winery restaurant
The Crush House is the best wine program in Canton by default, but it earns the title on its own merits too — fair prices, proper storage, and estate wines with a genuine sense of place. If you're within driving distance and haven't taken Ohio wine seriously yet, this is the place to start.

The Strip / North Canton · Canton · Lebanese-American, Mediterranean
Come here for the food — seriously, the shawarma and falafel earn their reputation — but don't come here for the wine. Order a sparkling water and save the bottle for somewhere that actually cares.

Downtown / Market Ave area · Canton · Steakhouse & Lounge
Sparta is a dependable neighborhood steakhouse with a wine list that matches the room — safe, familiar, and a little overpriced on the marquee bottles. If you're here for the steak and want something solid in the glass, you'll find it; just avoid the celebrity labels and ask what's pouring well by the glass.

East Canton / Oakwood · Canton · Upscale American Bistro / Fine Dining
The Bistro of Oakwood is doing something quietly interesting in a market where most lists coast on Meiomi and Josh. If you're in Canton and want a real wine with dinner, this is where you go.

Downtown Canton · Canton · Italian
Lucca Downtown is doing more with wine than most restaurants in Canton, and the Italian backbone of the list gives it a coherent identity. It's not a destination wine program, but it's a solid companion to a well-priced dinner — just steer clear of the California detours.

The Twisted Olive is exactly what a good neighborhood Italian-American restaurant should be for wine: fair prices, sensible selections, nothing embarrassing. We'd send a friend here for dinner without hesitation — just don't come expecting to discover anything new.
