Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Ichiban reads like a greatest hits album from American supermarket shelves — Kim Crawford, Kendall Jackson, The Prisoner. You know every name before you open the menu. That's not necessarily a knock; it means no one at the table is going to feel lost.
Twenty-eight labels, heavily weighted toward California and New Zealand, with a few Argentine Malbecs rounding out the Southern Hemisphere representation. Reds lean Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, whites are dominated by Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, and there's exactly zero Old World presence — no Burgundy, no Rhône, no Italian beyond a couple of Pinot Grigios. The list does its job for a sushi-and-steak spot: safe, recognizable, and reasonably priced. Anyone hoping to discover something outside their comfort zone will need to look elsewhere.
Twenty-six of the twenty-eight bottles are available by the glass, which is genuinely impressive coverage and makes this a strong spot for tables that can't agree on a bottle. Glass prices run $8–$16, which is fair for the Alpharetta market. No evidence of regular rotation or a dedicated BTG program beyond the standing list.
The Bottom Line
Ichiban's wine list is exactly what you'd expect at a solid suburban steak-and-sushi spot — recognizable producers, honest prices, and near-universal by-the-glass availability. It won't excite you, but it won't embarrass you either. If you're here for the food, the Alamos Malbec at $28 a bottle keeps things easy and affordable.

Efendi's wine list is a competent, fair-priced selection that plays it safe with California heavyweights while quietly sneaking in a few Turkish bottles that are the most compelling things on the menu. If you're here, do yourself a favor and skip the Prisoner, grab the Kavaklidere Yakut, and let the kitchen do what it does. It's not a destination wine list, but it won't let you down either.

Sunset Alpharetta is a genuinely fun night out in Downtown Alpharetta, and the wine list won't ruin it — but it also won't be the reason you come back. The regional focus on California and Italy keeps things familiar, pricing appears to lean steep for the area, and there's no evidence of a wine program with ambition beyond the basics. Go for the vibe, order what sounds good, and don't overthink the list.

Coalition's wine list won't excite the adventurous drinker, but it delivers what a Alpharetta steakhouse crowd actually wants: familiar names, fair prices, and the ability to pour by the glass across almost the entire list. The Comte Sancerre and Hito Tempranillo show there's at least some ambition beyond the Caymus comfort zone. If you're eating steak here, you'll drink well without overpaying.

The Velvet Note is one of Alpharetta's most genuinely distinctive nights out — a close-up jazz listening room that happens to serve wine, not a wine bar that happens to have music. The wine program leans Italian and Californian but isn't documented well enough for us to make specific bottle calls; pricing trends steep for the area. Come for the experience, order what sounds good, and let the music do the heavy lifting.

UP on the Roof may have a great view and a solid brunch menu, but the wine program isn't a reason to visit — it's barely a reason to look up from the cocktail list. If wine matters to you even a little, order something bubbly and move on; there's nothing here to chase.

Royalz is a lounge first and a wine destination never. The flat $12-a-glass pricing hides a list where most bottles cost less than a movie ticket at retail, and the Josh Cellars takeover makes it feel like no one is steering this ship. If you're here for the atmosphere, stick to cocktails — or order the Maison L'Envoyé and don't look too hard at anything else.

Spice and Sky's wine list is a low-effort placeholder — familiar brands, steep markups on accessible wines, and no apparent thought given to how wine interacts with an Asian kitchen. If you're here, start with the Bex Riesling for $9 and call it a night. For serious wine drinking, look elsewhere.

Le Mekong clearly puts its energy into the kitchen, not the wine cellar — and that's probably the right call. If you're eating here, grab the Cono Sur Pinot Noir or the J Lohr Riesling and focus on the food. Don't come here for the wine list; come here despite it.

One Flew South is, without much competition, the best wine option inside a major American airport — and that's not entirely faint praise. The Argentina focus gives the list a point of view, the food is serious enough to warrant a real glass of wine, and the room actually makes you want to linger. Markups will be airport markups, so set your expectations accordingly and order the lamb ribs while you're at it.
