Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Coalition reads exactly like what it is: a steakhouse in Alpharetta that knows its audience. You're not getting a curveball here — you're getting a well-curated greatest hits of American reds with just enough European depth to keep things honest. It's comfortable without being lazy.
With 25 labels, this list is tight but intentional. Cabernet Sauvignon is the star — you've got four options spanning Levee & Loam at $39 up to Silver Oak Alexander Valley at $160, which covers a real range of price points and style without padding. Pinot Noir gets two solid entries (Benton Lane and Obsidian), and there's a nod to Spain with the Bodegas Cepa 21 Hito Tempranillo and a Bordeaux via Chateau Coutreau. On the white side, Chardonnay anchors things predictably, with a Comte Sancerre at $75/bottle as the most interesting outlier on the list.
Twenty-one of the twenty-five bottles pour by the glass, which is genuinely impressive for a list this size — nearly the whole cellar is accessible without committing to a bottle. Glass prices run $11–$20, which tracks reasonably against the bottle prices. The DAOU Special Reserve and Leviathan Red Blend both top out at $20/glass, giving drinkers a real upgrade path without forcing a full bottle.
The Bottom Line
Coalition's wine list won't excite the adventurous drinker, but it delivers what a Alpharetta steakhouse crowd actually wants: familiar names, fair prices, and the ability to pour by the glass across almost the entire list. The Comte Sancerre and Hito Tempranillo show there's at least some ambition beyond the Caymus comfort zone. If you're eating steak here, you'll drink well without overpaying.

· Alpharetta · Wine Bar
The Velvet Note is one of Alpharetta's most genuinely distinctive nights out — a close-up jazz listening room that happens to serve wine, not a wine bar that happens to have music. The wine program leans Italian and Californian but isn't documented well enough for us to make specific bottle calls; pricing trends steep for the area. Come for the experience, order what sounds good, and let the music do the heavy lifting.

UP on the Roof may have a great view and a solid brunch menu, but the wine program isn't a reason to visit — it's barely a reason to look up from the cocktail list. If wine matters to you even a little, order something bubbly and move on; there's nothing here to chase.

Royalz is a lounge first and a wine destination never. The flat $12-a-glass pricing hides a list where most bottles cost less than a movie ticket at retail, and the Josh Cellars takeover makes it feel like no one is steering this ship. If you're here for the atmosphere, stick to cocktails — or order the Maison L'Envoyé and don't look too hard at anything else.

· Alpharetta · Gastropub/Tavern
Taffer's Tavern Alpharetta isn't trying to impress wine people, and that's fine — it's a gastropub with a crowd-pleasing list built for guests who want a bottle they already know. If you're with a table full of Caymus fans, everyone goes home happy. If you're hoping for something interesting or fairly priced, the Greywacke is your best play and then let it go.

Secreto is putting in more effort than most kitchens in this zip code when it comes to wine — a structured list, real producers, and 14 glass pours tells you someone cares. The markups lean steep in places, especially on the sparkling side, but the Esmonin Pinot and Hartford Court Bordeaux Blanc represent genuine finds worth ordering. If you're in Alpharetta and want a solid bottle with dinner without driving to Atlanta, this gets the job done.

· Alpharetta · Italian
Ippolito's Alpharetta keeps it simple and mostly keeps it fair — bottle prices stay under $50, the Italian reds are the right call for the cuisine, and the across-the-board by-the-glass program gives you flexibility. Skip the Meiomi, lean into the Italian side of the list, and you'll drink well enough for a weeknight dinner without any drama.

Avi's wine list is exactly what a neighborhood steakhouse should have — fair prices, enough variety to keep a table of six happy, and a few quiet overachievers hiding in plain sight. It won't excite a serious wine nerd, but it won't insult them either. If you're in Cumming and need a solid bottle with your steak, you can do this without regret.

Bare Bones Steakhouse has a wine list that feels like an afterthought — five crowd-pleasing reds, no whites, no by-the-glass transparency, and no sign that anyone is paying close attention to what's in the cellar or how it's priced. If you're here for the steak, you'll get through dinner just fine with a Cab from this list. But if wine is part of why you're going out, there are better places to spend that money in the greater Buford area.

The Ridge is a solid night out if you're in Forsyth County and want a steak with a side of live music and forest air — the wine program just isn't the reason to come. Until the list is published and verifiable, order something bold and red, enjoy your filet, and let the scenery do the heavy lifting.
