You're sitting lakeside at a proper resort dining room, the view is doing its job, and then the wine list lands. It's the kind of list that feels like it was assembled by someone who browsed a grocery store endgame aisle and called it a program. Josh Cellars twice, house wines four times — this is resort autopilot.
The list clocks in at roughly 14-18 labeled wines split between California, New Zealand, Italy, and France, but don't let the passport stamps fool you — there's no depth here, just shelf staples. Josh Cellars shows up in both Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc form, which tells you everything about the ambition level. J. Lohr Hilltop is the lone wine that suggests someone, at some point, was trying. The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and Tolloy Pinot Grigio from Alto Adige are reasonable inclusions, but they're islands of effort in a sea of safe plays.
The BTG list is actually the whole list, which is either generous or a sign that nobody is ordering bottles. You've got around 14-18 pours ranging from $7 house wines to $16 for the top shelf — and that ceiling of $16 is doing a lot of heavy lifting to justify markups that push bottles to $48-$64 for wines retailing at $12-$20. The Zonin Prosecco makes an appearance by the glass without a listed bottle price, which is on-brand for a list that feels like it was built for convenience, not conversation.
Tolloy Pinot Grigio — $16/glass, $64/bottle
It's still steep relative to retail, but Tolloy is a legitimate Alto Adige producer making clean, mineral-driven Pinot Grigio — not the flat, watery stuff. On a list this thin, it's the most honest wine here.
The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc
Most people at a resort lake dinner are going to grab the Josh on autopilot. The Crossings is a solid Marlborough producer with actual citrus snap and energy — a real wine that outperforms its menu position on a list like this.
Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
At $48 a bottle for a wine that retails around $12-$14, this is a 3.5x markup on a supermarket Cab. The lake view doesn't justify it. Order the J. Lohr Hilltop if you're going red, or skip the bottle entirely.
J. Lohr Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon + Steak
J. Lohr Hilltop is a serious Paso Robles Cab with enough structure and dark fruit to hold up to a proper steak. It's the best red on the list by a significant margin and the one moment where this wine program earns its keep.
The Bottom Line
Fusion Restaurant has the setting to be a genuine dining destination, but the wine list is purely transactional — safe names, steep markups, zero curation. Come for the lake, order a cocktail, and save the bottle for somewhere that cares.
