Thirteen labels. That's it. You're not here to geek out on obscure Jura producers — you're here for red-sauce pasta and a glass of something cold that costs less than a cocktail. At $6 to $11.25 a glass and bottles topping out at $49, Oliverio's is playing a very specific game, and it mostly works.
The list reads like the greatest hits of approachable international wine: California Cabernet, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, Australian Shiraz, a lone German Riesling, and a few domestic house pours filling the gaps. There's no Barolo, no Chianti, no Italian wine to speak of — which is a strange miss for an Italian restaurant. Penfolds and Franciscan are solid commercial producers that belong on a list like this, but the lack of any regional Italian bottles is a head-scratcher. Don't come expecting discovery; do come expecting something drinkable at a price that won't ruin your night.
Seven of the thirteen bottles are available by the glass, which is a solid ratio for a short list. The glass prices are genuinely reasonable for a sit-down restaurant, topping out at $11.25. There's no rotation to speak of — what you see is what you get, month after month.
Heinz Eifel Riesling — $6
A German Riesling at the bottom of the glass price range is the sleeper pick here. It cuts through heavy cream sauces and offers something actually interesting on a list that otherwise plays it very safe.

Most people at an Italian-American joint reach for the Cab or the Chardonnay without thinking. The Riesling sits ignored on this list, which is a shame — it's the only bottle with any real personality and it works overtime with the food.
William Hill Chardonnay
William Hill is fine, but it's the kind of heavily oaked, butter-forward California Chardonnay you've had a hundred times. Nothing wrong with it, nothing interesting about it. At a restaurant that already has limited options, you can do better.
Stoneleigh Sauvignon Blanc + pasta
Stoneleigh's bright citrus and herbaceous snap is a natural counterweight to lighter pasta dishes — think olive oil, garlic, or seafood preparations. It's not complicated, but it does exactly what you need it to do.

Oliverio's isn't a wine destination — it's a neighborhood Italian spot with honest prices and a list that covers the bases without any fuss. Send your friends here for dinner, not for the wine program, but at least they won't get gouged.
