Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Red Lobster Morgantown is exactly what you'd expect from a corporate seafood chain that spent its budget on lobster tanks and butter sauce. You flip it open hoping for a surprise and find a laminated card that reads like a grocery store endcap. No regional character, no curiosity — just the hits everyone already knows.
The list runs 20-30 bottles deep, which sounds decent until you realize it's dominated by mass-market brands and Canadian import staples like Peller Estates and Jackson-Triggs — not exactly names that inspire confidence. There's a token nod to Italy with Folonari Pinot Grigio, a New Zealand cameo from Kim Crawford, and a lone Spanish sparkler in the Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut Cava. Henry of Pelham shows up twice (Riesling and Pinot Noir), which is probably the most interesting producer on the list, but that's a low bar. The gaps are glaring: no Rosé, no real white Burgundy analog, nothing from the Southern Hemisphere beyond Kim Crawford, and zero bottles that would make a wine-curious diner actually lean in.
Eight to twelve pours by the glass at $8.50–$10.50 keeps things accessible price-per-sip, but the selection doesn't reward the savings. You're essentially choosing between Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cab, Moscato — the usual lineup. There's no rotation program, no seasonal pour, no reason to think about it too hard. Pick white, drink cold, move on.
Henry of Pelham Riesling — $8.50
Easily the most food-friendly wine on this list. Henry of Pelham is a legitimate Ontario producer, and their Riesling has enough acidity and gentle fruit to cut through buttery seafood without embarrassing anyone. At the low end of the glass price range, it's the one pour we'd actually recommend.
Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut Cava
Nobody orders bubbles at Red Lobster, which is a mistake. Cava with shellfish is a genuinely good combination — the effervescence and dry finish work hard against rich, briny seafood. Freixenet isn't a discovery, but it's a smarter move than reaching for the house Chardonnay.
Jackson-Triggs Cabernet Sauvignon
A Canadian Cab at a seafood chain is already a tough sell, and Jackson-Triggs doesn't make it easier. This is a bulk-production label that retails for under $10 a bottle — paying chain-restaurant markup to drink it with shrimp is a choice you'll quietly regret.
Henry of Pelham Riesling + Garlic Shrimp Scampi
The Riesling's citrus edge and off-dry structure actually stand up to the garlic butter situation in the scampi without getting steamrolled. It's the closest thing to a smart pairing this list offers.
❌ The Bottom Line
This is a wine list built for compliance, not curiosity — it exists so servers can say yes when you ask for wine. If you're eating at Red Lobster Morgantown, order the Henry of Pelham Riesling or the Cava, enjoy your biscuits, and don't think too hard about what could have been.
Wharf District · Morgantown · Italian
Oliverio's isn't a wine destination — it's a neighborhood Italian spot with honest prices and a list that covers the bases without any fuss. Send your friends here for dinner, not for the wine program, but at least they won't get gouged.

Downtown · Morgantown · Upscale Steakhouse & American
Bourbon Prime is where you go when you want a reliable Napa Cab with your steak and you're not in the mood to think too hard about it. The wine list won't inspire you, but it won't let you down either — which is exactly what a downtown hotel steakhouse should deliver.

Muriale's isn't a wine destination, but it's an honest one — fair prices, familiar pours, and a list that knows what it is. Send your friend here for dinner, not for a wine education.

Cafe Oliverio is a genuinely fun spot — live music, good food, lively crowd — and the wine list is serviceable without being memorable. Send your friends here for a great Italian dinner; just manage expectations on the wine front and steer them toward the Austin Hope.

Fusion Restaurant has the setting to be a genuine dining destination, but the wine list is purely transactional — safe names, steep markups, zero curation. Come for the lake, order a cocktail, and save the bottle for somewhere that cares.

Hill & Hollow puts real effort into its kitchen, and the wine list simply doesn't match. Until the beverage program gets the same attention as the farm sourcing, stick to one glass and move on.
