The portfolio leans hard into what actually grows well in the Hudson Valley: hybrid varieties like Traminette and Awosting White sit alongside cold-hardy classics like Cabernet Franc and Gamay Noir. That's not a compromise — that's a winery playing to its terroir instead of chasing trends. The Gamay Noir in particular signals real ambition; this is not a grape many Hudson Valley producers pull off convincingly, and Whitecliff does. It's approachable but has more going on than the label suggests — a solid case for giving New York State white blends a serious look.
Whitecliff Vineyard Cabernet Franc
Not because it's bad — it isn't — but if you're coming here for the first time, ordering the Cab Franc means you're defaulting to a grape you probably already know instead of exploring what makes this winery worth the trip. Save it for a return visit when you've already worked through the hybrids.
Whitecliff Vineyard Gamay Noir + Charcuterie board
Gamay's bright acidity and red-fruit profile cut through cured meats without overwhelming them — it's the same reason Beaujolais has always been a charcuterie staple. Whitecliff's Hudson Valley take brings a slightly earthier edge that makes the whole thing feel local and intentional.
