You don't walk into Greenvale Vineyards expecting a deep cellar — this is Rhode Island, not Napa. But the list surprises you: ten estate wines, all reasonably priced, with a range that swings from a Pinot Gris Ramato to a Meritage red. For a tasting room on the coast of Newport, that's more ambition than you'd expect.
Every bottle here is estate-grown Greenvale fruit, which keeps the list tight but focused. The whites dominate — three different Chardonnay expressions alone (Greenvale, Select, and Unoaked), plus an Albariño, a Vidal Blanc, a Skipping Stone White, and a Ramato-style Pinot Gris that shows some genuine curiosity. On the red side, there's a 2024 Malbec and a Meritage blend, which is a lean but reasonable showing for a New England estate. The lineup leans white and approachable, which fits the coastal setting without feeling like a cop-out.
By-the-glass availability isn't confirmed in our research, though tasting room formats typically offer pours. If you're visiting, ask what's available to taste before committing to a bottle — with ten wines on the list, a flight is probably your best starting move.
The Bottom Line
Greenvale Vineyards is a legitimate reason to detour off Bellevue Avenue. The estate list is small but not lazy — the Ramato alone earns the visit — and at $25 to $40 a bottle, you're paying tasting room prices, not restaurant markups. If you're spending a day in Newport, this is where you buy a bottle for the waterfront, not where you linger over a three-course dinner.

The selection is commercial and safe, but the Grüner and the Willamette Pinot Noir show someone made at least a couple of interesting calls.
