Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Timbers Lounge is exactly what you'd expect from a hotel lounge attached to a Best Western off the highway: short, safe, and entirely built around names you recognize from a grocery store end cap. There's no ambition here, and honestly, no pretense of any — this is a list designed to check a box, not to excite anyone.
The list runs about 10-15 options, leaning almost entirely on California with zero deviation. You've got Sycamore Lane doing the budget lifting, Robert Mondavi Private Selection and Josh Cellars holding down the middle, and Hess representing the top of the range — which is to say, wines your local Walmart stocks. There are no surprises, no interesting regions, no varietals beyond the holy trinity of Chard, Cab, and Pinot Grigio. If you've been hoping to find something from the Willamette Valley or even a Malbec, keep hoping.
The by-the-glass program runs four to eight pours depending on the night, and every single option is a familiar mass-market producer. Rotation appears nonexistent — this is a set-it-and-forget-it situation where the list probably hasn't changed since someone printed it two years ago.
Hess Shirtail Creek Chardonnay — $10
At a 214% markup it's the least punishing option on the list — Hess makes decent, clean Chardonnay and this is priced closer to fair than anything else they're pouring here.
Ménage à Trois Red Blend
Nobody brags about ordering this, but at $9 a glass it's the most versatile pour on the list for a lounge setting — soft, fruit-forward, and it'll hold its own against a burger without demanding your full attention.
Sycamore Lane Cabernet Sauvignon
A $6 retail bottle served at $7.50 a glass means you're paying a 325% markup on something that belongs at a backyard cookout. There's nothing wrong with Sycamore Lane, but there's nothing right about paying restaurant prices for it either.
Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon + Burger
Josh Cab is approachable and fruit-forward enough to cut through a beef patty without overthinking it — it's the most logical match on a list that wasn't built for pairing anyway.
❌ The Bottom Line
Timbers Lounge is a place to have a drink after a long drive to Mount Rushmore, not a destination for wine. Order a cocktail or a beer and save your wine energy for somewhere that's put in the work.
Central Rapid City · Rapid City · Mexican
Mi Mexico is not a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be — order a margarita, enjoy your meal, and don't expect the wine list to surprise you. If you absolutely must have wine with your tacos, the Sangria is $6.25 and nobody will judge you.

LongHorn Rapid City is exactly what it is — a reliable chain steakhouse with a wine list that was built by committee and hasn't changed much since. If you're here for the steak, you'll be fine; just aim for the Joel Gott and don't expect the staff to talk you through it.

There is no version of this wine list that warrants a special trip or even a deliberate order — it's a functional corporate program designed to move bottles, not to impress. If you're at Outback for the steak, grab the Alamos Malbec and call it a night; if wine actually matters to you, this is a cocktail dinner.

This is a wine list that exists purely because restaurants are expected to have one. Don't come to Applebee's for wine — but if you're already here and you need a glass, the Mondavi Cab won't embarrass you.

Red Lobster Rapid City's wine list exists to check a box, not to enhance your meal. Order the Riesling if you must, but honestly, a cocktail or a cold draft will serve you better here.

This is a corporate wine list in a corporate steakhouse, and it does exactly what it was built to do: keep wine on the menu without anyone having to think too hard. Come for the Dallas Filet and the bread — and if you must drink wine, hit it on a Wild West Wednesday when it's half off and the math actually makes sense.
