Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Texas Roadhouse Rapid City lands with all the excitement of a gas station cooler — familiar labels, zero surprises, and a format clearly designed for people who weren't planning to drink wine anyway. It's short, it's corporate, and it reads like someone in Fort Worth made all the decisions and nobody here was consulted.
Eight to twelve bottles, all California, all brands you've seen in a grocery store checkout lane: Josh, Meiomi, Dark Horse, Barefoot, Mirassou, Louis M. Martini. There's no regional exploration, no interesting producers, no attempt to reflect South Dakota's growing appetite for anything outside the mainstream. The list exists to fill a menu category, not to complement the hand-cut steaks sitting a few lines above it. If you've been to any Texas Roadhouse in any state, you've already seen this list.
Six to ten pours by the glass, ranging from $6 to $12, which is honestly the one thing this program has going for it — you're not being gouged. The selection mirrors the bottle list exactly, so variety tops out at whatever mood Barefoot or Josh puts you in. There's no rotation, no seasonal swap, no guest pour keeping things interesting.
Meiomi Pinot Noir — $8
At $8 a glass for a wine that retails around $15, the markup is roughly 100% — tight for a restaurant pour. It's a soft, fruit-forward crowd-pleaser and the most drinkable thing on the list next to a ribeye.
Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon
Most people at this table are reaching for the Josh, but Martini's been making Napa Cab since 1933 and has more backbone than anything else on this list. It's still a mass-market pour, but it's the closest thing to a serious wine in the room.
Barefoot Merlot
Barefoot is a $6 bottle at Walmart. Even at a fair glass price, you're still drinking Barefoot Merlot. Order a Coors Light and feel better about yourself.
Meiomi Pinot Noir + Fall-off-the-bone ribs
Meiomi's sweetness and low tannin don't fight the sticky, smoky BBQ sauce on the ribs — they lean into it. It's not a refined pairing, but it works for what it is.
Wednesday — Wild West Wednesday promotion offers half-price wine alongside $2 off steaks and a house sirloin dinner special. Specific exclusions on which wines qualify are not confirmed — ask your server before you order.
❌ The Bottom Line
This is a corporate wine list in a corporate steakhouse, and it does exactly what it was built to do: keep wine on the menu without anyone having to think too hard. Come for the Dallas Filet and the bread — and if you must drink wine, hit it on a Wild West Wednesday when it's half off and the math actually makes sense.

Timbers Lounge is a place to have a drink after a long drive to Mount Rushmore, not a destination for wine. Order a cocktail or a beer and save your wine energy for somewhere that's put in the work.

Mi Mexico is not a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be — order a margarita, enjoy your meal, and don't expect the wine list to surprise you. If you absolutely must have wine with your tacos, the Sangria is $6.25 and nobody will judge you.

LongHorn Rapid City is exactly what it is — a reliable chain steakhouse with a wine list that was built by committee and hasn't changed much since. If you're here for the steak, you'll be fine; just aim for the Joel Gott and don't expect the staff to talk you through it.

There is no version of this wine list that warrants a special trip or even a deliberate order — it's a functional corporate program designed to move bottles, not to impress. If you're at Outback for the steak, grab the Alamos Malbec and call it a night; if wine actually matters to you, this is a cocktail dinner.

This is a wine list that exists purely because restaurants are expected to have one. Don't come to Applebee's for wine — but if you're already here and you need a glass, the Mondavi Cab won't embarrass you.

Red Lobster Rapid City's wine list exists to check a box, not to enhance your meal. Order the Riesling if you must, but honestly, a cocktail or a cold draft will serve you better here.

Sear is a perfectly competent steakhouse wine list in a market that probably doesn't demand more — it covers the California classics, marks them up accordingly, and calls it a night. Send a friend here if they want a reliable Cab with their steak; tell them to skip it if they're hoping for anything remotely adventurous.

Dakotah Steakhouse is a competent neighborhood steakhouse wine list doing exactly what it was designed to do — keep the table happy without anyone having to think too hard. If you're chasing serious wine, drive past it; if you want a decent pour with your buffalo ribeye without drama, it'll get the job done.

LongHorn's wine list exists to check a box, not to elevate your meal. Stick to the Riesling or the Meiomi, enjoy your steak, and don't expect the wine program to be the reason you came.
