First Impression

The Tavern's wine list reads like it was built to check boxes rather than excite anyone — Freixenet minis, Sonoma Cutrer, Bordeaux by region rather than producer. It's the kind of list that gets the job done on a Tuesday without asking too much of you or your wallet.

Selection Deep Dive

There's a gesture toward range here — sparkling from Jura, a nod to Bordeaux, some California staples — but the execution leans heavily on safe, recognizable names rather than interesting producers. The sparkling section is surprisingly stocked with mini formats (187mL), which is either clever for solo pours or a sign that nobody's ordering full bottles of bubbly. Francois Montand NV from Jura is genuinely the most interesting thing on this list and probably the least ordered. The rest skews toward brands you'd recognize from a grocery store endcap.

By the Glass

Glass pours land in the $11–$13 range, which is reasonable for Tulsa but still stings when the bottles behind them aren't exactly prestige pours. We couldn't confirm a specific BTG rotation or count, so we'll reserve full judgment — but the price point suggests they're not pouring anything that'll change your life by the glass.

💰Best Value

Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut NV (187mL) — $11

At $11 for a personal-sized pour of a serviceable Cava, the markup is actually fair — about 57% over retail — and it's a low-commitment way to start a meal with bubbles without committing to a full bottle of something middling.

💎Hidden Gem

Francois Montand NV

A Jura sparkling on a Tulsa tavern list is genuinely unexpected — this French Crémant-style producer is worth the ask. It's priced at $44 a bottle, which is steep relative to its ~$15 retail, but it's the one pour on this list with actual personality. Most tables will walk right past it.

Skip This

Francois Montand NV (by the bottle)

We love that it's here, but a 193% markup — from $15 retail to $44 on the menu — is hard to swallow. If it's not a Wednesday, you're overpaying significantly for the privilege of drinking the most interesting bottle on the list.

🍽️Perfect Pairing

Rotari Brut Rosé NV (187mL) + Tavern burger or bar snacks

A cold, fizzy rosé in a mini bottle alongside whatever they're doing with a tavern-style burger is an underrated move. The light red fruit cuts through fat, the bubbles cleanse the palate, and at $12 you're not even committed to finishing it.

🍷Half-Price Wine Night

WednesdaySelect bottles of wine at half price every Wednesday — they call it Winesday Wednesdays.

✔️ The Bottom Line

The Tavern isn't a wine destination, but Winesday Wednesdays at half price on select bottles genuinely change the math here — show up mid-week, grab the Montand or something from the Bordeaux section, and you've got a solid neighborhood wine night. Any other night, keep expectations modest.
