The wine list at Sumittra is an afterthought — a short roster of grocery store staples that reads like someone grabbed whatever was on sale at Total Wine and called it done. Nothing here was chosen to complement the bold, herbaceous, chili-forward food on the menu. It's the kind of list that makes you wish they had a full cocktail program instead.
Ten to twenty bottles, almost entirely California and Washington State, with zero adventurousness and zero regional logic — no Rieslings from Germany, no Alsatian Gewurztraminer, nothing that actually makes sense next to green curry or drunken noodles. The lineup is Kim Crawford, Kendall-Jackson, Mirassou, Cavit, La Marca: brands you recognize from the supermarket aisle, not the kind of producers someone curated with Thai cuisine in mind. There are no small producers, no interesting regions, and no evidence that anyone thought hard about what drinks well with fish sauce and lemongrass. The list is short, safe, and a little lazy.
There are four to eight by-the-glass options, which is adequate for a list this size, but the selection mirrors the bottle list — familiar brands, nothing exciting. Expect the usual suspects: a Sauvignon Blanc, a Pinot Grigio, maybe a Chardonnay. No rotation, no discovery, no fun.
La Marca Prosecco — $32
At 100% markup over retail, this is the least egregious bottle on the list. It's a modest win, but Prosecco's light bubbles and low bitterness actually hold up reasonably well against lighter Thai dishes. Take what you can get.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling Columbia Valley
Nobody orders this at a Thai restaurant, which is a mistake. A touch of residual sugar and bright acidity make Riesling the most food-friendly wine on this list by a wide margin — it's one of the few bottles here that actually belongs next to a green curry or spicy basil stir-fry. Just brace yourself for the markup.
Cavit Pinot Grigio delle Venezie
At $26 for a bottle you can grab at any grocery store for $10, this is the worst markup on the list at 160% over retail. Cavit is perfectly fine wine, but not at this price, and not when you could put that money toward a second order of drunken noodles instead.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling Columbia Valley + Green Curry
The subtle sweetness in Ste. Michelle's Riesling tempers the heat of the coconut-based green curry, while its acidity cuts through the richness. It's genuinely the right call, even if the $28 price tag stings a little.
The Bottom Line
Sumittra serves solid Thai food in a welcoming downtown space, but the wine list is a missed opportunity — overpriced supermarket brands with no connection to the cuisine. Order a Thai iced tea and save the wine budget for somewhere that earned it.

Ayse is the kind of place that surprises you — a Frederick meze lounge with a genuinely considered Italian-leaning wine list that punches above its weight class, even if markups and a static program hold it back from true greatness. Send a friend here, but tell them to skip the Amarone and ask for the Moschofilero.

Bonefish Grill Frederick is a fine place to eat seafood, but the wine list is pure chain-restaurant autopilot — low risk, low reward, and no one in the kitchen or behind the bar is losing sleep over it. Order the Riesling at Social Hour, enjoy your salmon, and save the wine exploration for somewhere that's actually trying.

Na Na Thai is a genuinely surprising wine program hiding inside a casual Thai spot in Buellton — fair prices, smart curation, and a clear point of view about what wines belong with spice-driven food. If you're driving through wine country and want something that earns its own kind of credibility, this list is worth the detour.

My Thai is a genuine Wild Card — a family Thai joint that somehow assembled a Napa Cab-heavy wine list with real bottles on it, even if the pairing logic is questionable and the markups climb fast. Come for the green curry, order the Santadi, and marvel at the fact that Heitz Trailside exists on this menu at all.
