Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Mayta's isn't trying to impress anyone β and honestly, that's fine. This is a neighborhood Peruvian spot where the pisco sours are probably doing more heavy lifting than the Cab, and the energy in the room reflects that. What catches your eye is the Wednesday deal: half-price wine by the glass and bottle, house sangrias included, which is a genuinely good reason to plan your week around dinner here.
The list keeps it tight and approachable β Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay cover the bases without breaking any new ground. There's no deep regional storytelling here, no Argentine single-vineyard Malbec or Peruvian Quebranta crossover moment β just workable international pours that most tables will recognize and order without a second thought. The Malbec is the most interesting fit on the menu given the South American kitchen, but even that feels like a generic placeholder rather than a deliberate choice. This list exists to support the food, not lead the conversation.
Four options by the glass β Cab, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay β which is lean but functional for a casual Peruvian spot in a strip mall setting. At $5 a glass on Wine Down Wednesday, the math is hard to argue with regardless of what's in the bottle. Regular pricing is unconfirmed, so your mileage may vary the other six nights of the week.
Malbec (by the glass) β $5 on Wednesdays
Half-price Wednesday is the whole value story here. A Malbec at $5 a glass alongside Lomo Saltado is an easy yes β the wine earns its place on the table even if it's not a standout producer.
House Sangria
It's included in the Wine Down Wednesday deal and probably does more to match the bright, citrus-forward flavors of the Peruvian kitchen than any of the still wine pours. Don't overlook it just because it's not bottled.
Chardonnay (by the glass)
With no producer or region disclosed, this is almost certainly a generic, oaky pour that has no real business next to ceviche or aji amarillo. The Sauvignon Blanc is the better call if you want white wine at this table.
Sauvignon Blanc (by the glass) + Ceviche
Ceviche is already doing the acid work with lime and leche de tigre β a crisp Sauvignon Blanc picks up that thread without fighting it. It's the most logical match on a short list, and it works.
Wednesday β Wine Down Wednesday: wine by the glass and by the bottle at half price; house sangrias also included.
π² The Bottom Line
Mayta's isn't a wine destination, but Wine Down Wednesday makes it a genuinely fun, affordable place to eat and drink well enough. Come for the Lomo Saltado, grab the Malbec at half price, and don't overthink it.

If you've never had Black Ankle and you're anywhere near Frederick, this is the easiest yes we can give you β a rare chance to taste one of Maryland's genuinely great producers in a focused, unpretentious setting. The single-producer format is a limitation, but when the producer is this good, it barely matters.

Ayse is the kind of place that surprises you β a Frederick meze lounge with a genuinely considered Italian-leaning wine list that punches above its weight class, even if markups and a static program hold it back from true greatness. Send a friend here, but tell them to skip the Amarone and ask for the Moschofilero.

Bonefish Grill Frederick is a fine place to eat seafood, but the wine list is pure chain-restaurant autopilot β low risk, low reward, and no one in the kitchen or behind the bar is losing sleep over it. Order the Riesling at Social Hour, enjoy your salmon, and save the wine exploration for somewhere that's actually trying.

LimΓ³n isn't a wine destination, but it's not pretending to be one either β the list is lean, South American, and built to work with the food, which is more than most restaurants at this price point bother to do. Go for the Jalea and the Sauvignon Blanc, skip the Malbec autopilot, and enjoy the ride.

Andino's has the bones of a wine program that could genuinely complement its food, but steep markups on accessible bottles and a static, play-it-safe list mean you're paying a premium for the ambiance, not the wine. Order a cocktail or brace for the Catena.
