Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Sea Salt feels like it was curated by someone who shops at a good grocery store and isn't embarrassed about it. It's California-forward, name-brand, and will make the table happy without challenging anyone. For a resort-adjacent seafood spot on Hilton Head, that's honestly not a bad play.
The list leans hard on California with reliable producers like Far Niente, Duckhorn, Sonoma-Cutrer, and Merry Edwards doing the heavy lifting. France and Italy show up as supporting characters, but don't expect to hunt down a Chablis or a Vermentino to match the briny oysters. The Pacific Northwest gets a nod, though the depth there is thin. This is a list designed to generate nods of recognition, not discovery.
The by-the-glass program runs 12-20 options, which is respectable for a beach casual concept. The daily happy hour from 4-6pm shaves $3 off house wine pours, which is worth timing your arrival around. Don't expect the top-shelf bottles to show up by the glass — those are bottle-only territory.
Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches Chardonnay — null
If you're going to order Chardonnay at a seafood spot in South Carolina, this is the one to reach for. Russian River Ranches is a legitimate wine from a producer that punches above its casual-restaurant-list status, and it's the most interesting Chardonnay on offer here.
Merry Edwards Pinot Noir
Most people at a seafood restaurant aren't ordering Pinot Noir, which means this bottle probably sits quietly while everyone reaches for Chardonnay. That's a mistake. Merry Edwards makes some of the best Sonoma Coast Pinot going, and it's a legitimate pairing with salmon or pan-seared scallops if you're willing to go red.
Far Niente Chardonnay
Far Niente is a perfectly fine wine, but at resort-adjacent markup it almost certainly crosses into territory where you're paying for the label more than the liquid. The Sonoma-Cutrer is the better value play in the same California Chardonnay lane.
Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc + Oysters on the Half Shell
Duckhorn's Sauvignon Blanc brings enough citrus brightness and acidity to cut through the brine without overwhelming the delicate oyster. It's a textbook match, and at a resort seafood joint, sometimes the obvious call is the right one.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Sea Salt isn't trying to win a wine list award and it shows, but it's not trying to rip you off on selection either — just on price. If you're already there for the scallops and the view, the wine list will serve you fine; just set your expectations to vacation mode and not discovery mode.
Harbour Town / Sea Pines · Hilton Head Island · Resort / American
The Harbour Town Clubhouse wine list is exactly what it needs to be for its audience — familiar, functional, and unlikely to offend anyone in a golf shirt. Just know going in that you're paying resort prices for resort selections, and calibrate your expectations accordingly.

Reilley's is a reliable beach-town bar that happens to have wine — not a wine destination that happens to serve food. Hit it during happy hour for half-off house pours, order the Rosé with your crab cakes, and keep your expectations calibrated to the vibe.

Redfish is the kind of wine list that works better than it should for a coastal tourist spot — 400 bottles is nothing to dismiss, even if the selection leans on crowd-pleasing California names and the pricing reflects the zip code. Go in knowing what you want, order the Riesling by the glass, and you'll have a fine night.

Shelter Cove · Hilton Head Island · Upscale Coastal American
The Pearl is a solid, well-dressed list that serves its upscale coastal crowd without rocking any boats. Bring a group, let someone order the Miraval, and don't let the Silver Oak get near your credit card.

Mid-island · Hilton Head Island · Italian
Il Carpaccio is a reliable dinner option for Hilton Head visitors who want a glass of something recognizable without overthinking it — but anyone hoping to find Italy on the wine list will come up short. Drink the bubbles, enjoy the pasta, and don't expect the list to challenge you.

Hinoki isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be — it's a solid neighborhood Japanese spot with a list that covers the bases, keeps prices in check, and won't embarrass you in front of a date. Order the Oyster Bay, get the omakase, and call it a win.
