Six bottles. That's the wine list at Salt in Juneau. And before you think this is a tight, curated selection of food-friendly gems — it's not. Every single one of them is a dessert wine or Port.
The entire wine program here appears to be an afterthought tacked onto the end of a menu, and a very sweet afterthought at that. You've got three Graham's Ports — the 2016 Vintage, a 20 Year Tawny, and a 30 Year Tawny — plus a Toro Albala Don PX (a Pedro Ximénez Sherry), a Quady Elysium Black Muscat from California, and a Kiana Chenin Blanc that is the lone table wine in the bunch. There is nothing here for someone who wants a glass of Chardonnay with their halibut or a Pinot Noir with salmon. If you came to Salt for dinner and hoped wine would be part of the meal, you're going to be leaning on cocktails or whatever is on draft.
We have no pricing data and no confirmation of what's available by the glass versus only by the bottle. With only six labels and a desert-wine-only program, the by-the-glass situation is genuinely unclear — and that opacity is its own kind of red flag.
The Bottom Line
Salt is a contemporary seafood restaurant with a wine list that forgot seafood. Six dessert wines and Ports is a bold editorial stance for a dinner spot, and not one that serves most guests well. Come here for the food — and order the cocktails.
· Juneau · Saloon / American
The Red Dog Saloon is one of Juneau's great experiences — just not for wine. The pricing is fair and the Prosecco is a decent choice, but the list is as thin and generic as they come. Come for the atmosphere and the beer; let someone else worry about the Pinot.

In Bocca Al Lupo is the kind of wine program you'd expect from a serious scratch kitchen that prioritizes food first and hasn't fully let the list catch up — yet. If you're in Juneau and craving something with more intention than a chain restaurant pour, this is your move. Just don't show up expecting a deep cellar; show up expecting a good meal with decent wine to match.

Downtown Waterfront · Juneau · Seafood
This isn't a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be — which is honestly a point in its favor. Show up for the crab, order the Vinho Verde, and stop overthinking it.

· Hilo · Contemporary American / Seafood
Jackie Rey's wine list is a genuine surprise for a neighborhood seafood joint in Hilo — thoughtful picks, fair prices, and enough range to keep a wine-curious table happy. We'd send a friend here without hesitation, just tell them to ask about the glass pours before they sit down.

Hilo Bay Cafe isn't a destination wine list, but it's a genuinely thoughtful one for where it sits — geographically and price-wise. Send a friend here if they want a solid pour with their fish without getting taken for a ride.

Legacy West · Plano · Contemporary American / Seafood
Ebb & Flow isn't a wine destination, but it's a decent enough place to have a glass while you eat seafood in Legacy West without getting gouged. Catch happy hour, order the Allan Scott, and let the cocktail menu do the heavy lifting.
