Red Dog Saloon

The Red Dog Saloon is a Juneau institution — sawdust on the floor, taxidermy on the walls, and a wine list that could fit on a cocktail napkin. Eight options, all by the glass, no bottles, no pretense. This is not a wine destination and it doesn't try to be.

The list splits into House Wines and Featured Wines, which is a generous way to describe what amounts to two tiers of anonymous varietal pours. We're talking unlabeled Chardonnay, Cabernet, and White Zinfandel on the house side — no producer, no region, no context. The Featured tier adds a Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and a second Chardonnay, plus La Bella Prosecco for bubbles. That's the whole list. No old world, no new world curiosity, no story to tell.

Everything on the list is by the glass, which at least means you're not locked into a bottle commitment at a saloon. Prices run $6.50 for the house pours and $8.50 for the featured tier — honest pricing for what you're getting. Don't expect rotation or any sense that these selections change with the seasons.
