Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Rusty Bucket isn't trying to impress anyone — and that's kind of the point. It's a tight, recognizable roster built for people who want a glass of something familiar with their burger, not a tasting flight. What's here is priced reasonably enough that you won't feel gouged when you order a second round.
California dominates, with a predictable parade of Sonoma, Napa, and Central Coast names — Sonoma-Cutrer, Franciscan Estates, Spellbound, Hahn. Italy gets a nod via Ruffino and Coppola's Diamond Collection Pinot Grigio, which is about as adventurous as this list gets geographically. There's no Burgundy, no Rhône, no Spanish anything — but M. Chapoutier's Belleruche Rosé sneaks in as a genuinely solid outlier among the otherwise grocery-aisle roster. The list is short on surprises but hits the expected marks for a neighborhood tavern at this price point.
Fourteen by-the-glass options is a respectable number for a casual tavern, spanning whites, reds, and a rosé. Prices run $8.50 to $13.25, which is honest for a chain-adjacent concept. Don't expect much rotation — this reads like a set-it-and-forget-it program that hasn't changed since the menu printed.
Sonoma Cutrer 'Russian River Ranches' Chardonnay — $13.25/glass
This is a legitimately good Chardonnay from a well-regarded producer — restrained oak, real fruit, not the butter bomb you'd expect in a place like this. At this price, it's the best quality-to-cost ratio on the list.
M. Chapoutier 'Belleruche' Rosé
A Rhône Valley rosé from one of the region's most respected names sitting quietly on a tavern list — most people will scroll past it for the Cab. Don't. It's a proper Southern Rhône blend that punches well above its neighbors on this list.
Red Diamond Winery Merlot
This is a high-volume, mass-produced Washington Merlot you can find at any grocery store for under $10 retail. At tavern markup, there's just no reason to order it when the Spellbound Cab or Hahn Pinot are right there.
Honig Sauvignon Blanc + Baja Tacos
Honig's Napa Sauvignon Blanc has enough citrus brightness and herbal lift to cut through the creamy slaw and spiced fish in the Baja Tacos. It's a clean, easy match that actually makes both the food and wine taste better.
The Bottom Line
Rusty Bucket is exactly what it says it is — a neighborhood tavern with a wine list that gets the job done without any fuss. If you're here for the food and want something decent in your glass, you'll be fine; if you're here for the wine, you're at the wrong restaurant.

Anhelo is doing something quietly ambitious — a focused, considered wine list in a city that often settles for Caymus and a bucket of Whispering Angel. The markups aren't shy, but the curation is real, and the Sauternes library alone is worth a detour.

Frasher's isn't reinventing the steakhouse wine list, but it's doing the job with a Wine Spectator credential and a Wednesday half-price night that makes the steep markups a lot easier to live with. Send a friend here if they want a reliable California Cab with their red meat — just tell them to go on Wednesday.

The Living Room isn't trying to reinvent wine — it's trying to make California Cab and Chardonnay feel like an event, and it mostly succeeds. Send your friends here for a comfortable, well-staffed wine experience; just remind them to drink the Duckhorn.

The Mick Brasserie is a dependable, well-staffed wine destination dressed up as a casual neighborhood spot — a genuinely rare combo in Scottsdale. The markups keep it from being a great deal, but the sommelier team and the quality of the list make it worth showing up for.

STK Scottsdale is a reliable California wine destination — not a discovery, but a dependable one. If you're here for Wagyu and a bottle of Stag's Leap, you will not leave disappointed; just don't expect the list to surprise you.

Marcellino is doing something genuinely uncommon in Scottsdale — a disciplined, Italy-first wine program with real producers and a sommelier who clearly cares. Markups tip steep on the prestige bottles, but the depth of the list earns it a spot on your list if Italian wine is your thing.

Spoke & Wheel is a perfectly decent tavern to grab a drink after a hike, but the wine list is strictly functional — low effort, low excitement, low stakes. If wine matters to your evening, Sedona has better options.

Hollywood Tavern isn't a destination wine stop, but it's a damn solid place to drink well between winery visits. The Washington-focused list is honest, the value is real, and the Gorman and Latta pours alone justify the stop.

Winslow's Tavern is hiding a genuinely serious wine program behind an unpretentious exterior, and that gap between expectation and reality is exactly what makes it worth seeking out. Markups keep it from Rager territory, but the curation is legitimately exciting — go in knowing what you want and you'll drink very well.
